I worked at BMC Software full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Nice people, good team work; competitive salaries and benefits

    Cons

Decreasing quality of the product - and thus a lot of long hours to fix that - due to increased level of hiring abroad

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Limit the rate of over seas hiring as they do not stay long - we train them and then many leave

I have been working at BMC Software full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good place for experienced people to join and retire. Not much innovation and career scope.
work life balance is good.. not that much hectic work.

    Cons

Nothing specific but you need to let your employees grow with the organisation. HR is not that great helpful with employees. Not much innovation and career scope. Use 30 years old technology and stuck with it.

I have been working at BMC Software

    Pros

Great company for specific depts such as Sales and Product Dev'ing.

    Cons

    Overall limited opportunities for advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I cannot speak for all depts but in regards to internal I.T. the management is using the "do more with less" approach which stresses out the I.T. employees. I better balance of man power to work load is necessary to ensure a more positive work environment.

I have been working at BMC Software

    Pros

    - Large company, situated well to ride out bumps in the global economy
    - High level of vocal community support for the Remedy product line
    - Good at integrating acquired companies into larger solutions

    Cons

    - Big company with lots of internal process overhead - not very nimble
    - Tends to be driven by what competitors do or large customers demand vs. innovative
    - Most employees tend to just do what is in their job description without going above and beyond

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Be forward looking in 3-5 year plans and stick to them
    - Listen to your folks on the front line - they'll help you decide what's important to do

I have been working at BMC Software

    Pros

Overall it's a decent place to work for, they have been successful in integrating new companies and executing well on their BSM strategy.

    Cons

Infrastructure software is not a Hot growth area, all the other companies which BMC competes are big companies like HP, IBM and CA.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need to encourage more innovation.
