    Former Employee - Proprietary Trader in Paris (France)

    Pros

    Some activities are located in Paris.
    44 days of vacation with a french contract.

    Cons

    Compensation not in line with competitors and related to length of service rather than perf.
    Very few competent managers. Very little motivation in support teams.
    Lots of constraints on the trading side : many useless internal after-trades procedures, existence of mandates.
    Too much testosterone on the trading floor : unecessary stress + unhealthy cultur + sexist environment...

    Current Employee - Director in Paris (France)

    Pros

    good solid company, well know name, looks good on CV, can be ruthless when needed good ceo

    Cons

    Too political - a lot of things done for show - middle management is poor. Communications team is unprofessional and the advertising is embarassing. Not international - everything is paris based and paris-minded. It is like exporting Camembert and and pretending it is a kraft cheese slice - it looks frenc, tastes french and smells french - get over it..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Modernise the company so that it becomes an international bank, bring in people from the outside to add more talent

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Paris (France)

    Pros

    1. Stable;
    2. Opportunistic acquisitions in the history;
    3. Better working hours vs. US peers.

    Cons

    1. No real rain-makers, lending based IBD;
    2. Pay significantly under market-level, and is proud of it;
    3. Too risk-averse.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Show me the money, or real career potential, otherwise BNP Paribas can never be a top IB.
