    Pros

Much better than other terrible companies. Not sure what else to say.

    Pros

Great team and investment in leadership. Long history of internal bias is being over-corrected with heavy bias on external talent, often without same depth or breadth of expertise.

    Cons

Good is the enemy of great as a case study. Ultimately I think they will figure out how to compete with Amazon and leverage their physical stores to delight guests.

Knowledgeable Management actually cared about their employees. No micro-management and you were allowed to learn new things....

Way too much outsourcing but that seems to be the way now....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to hold on to you long term employees that's your knowledge base...

    Cons

Job security, frequency of layoffs due to lack of planning

Spend more time focused on winning business opportunities and less on corporate restructuring strategies. You're losing some very capable people!

I have been working at BT full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

BT is company where you make what you want out of your work. As a Consultant in the Advise organization I have seen two classes of individuals in the field. Those who expect everything to be handed to them and those who find the opportunities within and without. Those who expect everything to be handed to them usually are unhappy when they aren't given work or the next steps... (but note are happily still cashing their six figure paychecks for "sitting on the bench") then their are those who work hard and find ways to be involved in areas of business and product development, these people treat every assignment like it is in front of the customer and are always looking for ways to contribute more and help out. I put myself in this category. Have had tremendous opportunities come my way to work with some of the top talent on the top companies in the world.

    Cons

The fragmented nature of the organization is challenging and creates a drag on some of our more innovative projects. Internal chargeback is a mess.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In all honesty, cut the fat, get rid of those long term bench sitters, better reward those who are actually putting the time and effort to "build the cathederal".

I worked at BT as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The fellow engineers are great. The software has an extremely solid foundation and is a pleasure to work on. Best work/life balance of any company I've ever worked for.

    Cons

Management isn't solid. Technology is old in some areas, EX OC4J was still being used as an application server.

Great place to start your career in enterprise networking. Very knowledgeable staff and willing to teach newbies. Great management team that always looks out for their employees, as long as they are willing to put in the work.
