Current Employee – been working at Baker Hughes full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Great people who really want the company to succeed. Great technology. Geographic spread is getting better. Becoming less US centric.
Cons – Trying to emulate Schlumberger instead of creating a Unique value proposition and sustainable competitive advantage. The real competition is to meet the needs of the customers but BH tend to try and push what makes good sense for them rather than for the customer. Speak about being customer driven but the reality is very different.
Advice to Senior Management – Sort out HR. Provide fair packages and try to retain people. Listen to staff. Get support functions more aware and engaged in the real business.

Current Employee – been working at Baker Hughes full-time for less than a year
Pros – Excellent Benefits
Strong Compensation
Good facilities and equipment
Cons – Local and Product-Line Specific Gaps in HSE Culture
Chaos from Reorganization Ongoing
Advice to Senior Management – All of your new EOCs are woefully incomplete. Overhaul them again. Hold middle managers to HSE and Integrity standards.
Support your HSE Team. They are strong and dedicated, but HR does not support actions.
Push your HR reps to investigate completely. Don't just take the word of the senior manager in any situation.

Pros – Baker is a great company to work for. Since they are a global company there is lots of room for growth. With the recent acquisition of BJ services they are still undergoing lots of changes which can be good or bad depending your what you're looking for
Cons – The executive team seem political, which is common with most large companies. I think they could do a better job of casting vision for the entire organization. Sometimes it feels like we don't have clear objectives. They are currently using saba.com to help create alignment, great idea, but my managers don't seem to know how to leverage to tool and it is only looked at once or twice per year
Advice to Senior Management – Train, train, train your managers. Cast vision and communicate openly. Don't be afraid to talk straight. Embrace social media, it's nothing to be scared of.
