I worked at Baker Hughes as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

I interned summer 2014, my manager was great. Management cares about your performance, about the company, and you feel like a person, rather thank just another employee

    Cons

I faced no challenges. I faced no challenges. I faced no challenges. I faced no challenges. I faced no challenges.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior management did great listening to intern presentations. Upper management would also spend time developing interns to help them grow

I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The company has been great to me; I've been promoted 4 times within the last 3 years. Through hard work you are able to climb the ranks here.

    Cons

Sometimes the work life balance isn't there; but that is only when there is a hard deadline for a project that needs to get done.

I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good incentives per diem and overall leadership, industry knowledge is superior of the big three and there is more ability to advance if you put in the work.

    Cons

Disorganized at first, other than that they were eager to hire and got the ball rolling very quickly. I was hired drug tested the same day as my interview.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Use senior employees in the new hire process rather than a third party individual that knows zero about the oilfield industry.

I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great facilities, very high tech, collaborative environments, people are amazing, Baker hires really smart, easy to work with people in their core teams. Benefits are the best in the industry, moving around to 3 oil and gas companies, Baker Hughes has the best benefits package, hands down in the service company world. Career opportunities to grow within the company are endless. The company really embraces the culture and quality of work along with the emphasis on safety (in every facility worldwide).

    Cons

Management is average, not much direction or where the projects are moving, not much insight into market demands, project budget, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your engineers, they are the "work-horse", remember back when you were a technical engineer.

    Pros

Corporate BHI does a very good job with keeping their employees happy and well paid.

    Cons

I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great benefits, laid back atmosphere. you can make a lot of money. Co-workers have been very helpful. Very safe environment, up to date equipment and tools. All clothing and boots provided, so minimal out of pocket expense to start.

    Cons

Long hours sometimes, but with overtime pay it where you make the money. lack of direction sometimes, when I started my manager went on vacation, so this probably is an isolated case. sometimes jobs run into your days off which is a bummer.
