    Pros

I have a great manager and is given the freedom to do my job without micromanagement. There is a lot of variety and challenges with my day to day work so it does not become boring. My co-workers and team mates are smart and hardworking and want to do the best job possible.

    Cons

There is no direction from upper management. There seems to be lots of discord with upper management so decisions are not made. Most projects start as emergencies that become a lower priority when another project becomes the emergencies. It can be difficult to complete projects with the constantly changing priorities. There are limited resources to help with projects. No raises for 2015, even though the people doing the work had no impact on whether the financial goals were met. For the people below management their work is the same regardless if financial goals are met, but are still not getting the recognition. I think this will lead to decreased employee morale and more people leaving.

    Advice to Management

Give up your big bonuses and give raises the employees who are doing the work on the front lines. Management needs to work together as a team and not just look out for their own interest.

    Pros

Inside look into casino gambling but not learning anything new or relevant to the real world...

    Cons

Overworked with little life balance. Not enough compensation for actual job responsibilities performed. Too many kingdoms and politics to deal with.

    Advice to Management

Re-access each job responsibilities in comparison to market salary rates. A more focused approach to relevant projects that have a future. Too much wasted time and effort in projects that go no where.

    Pros

    1. Great people scattered throughout the company
    2. Opportunities to travel to cool places
    3. Decent work/life balance

    Cons

    1. Horrible middle management protected by senior management and HR. Witnessed multiple instances of discrimination, sexual harassment, and offensive language but can't report it unless you want to lose your job.
    2. Politics, politics, politics. If you want to be treated well or promoted then it's not about how hard you work, it's about how much butt you kiss. And even then that might not be enough.
    3. Management could care less about you: "You're just lucky you have a job"
    "dont like it? Then quit"
"layoffs are coming and no one is safe"
"what makes you think you deserve a promotion?"
And on, and on, and on.

    Advice to Management

Stop protecting middle management and realize that every employee is valuable and deserves to be treated as such.

    Pros

Flexible schedules, good pay, standard benefits

    Cons

Management will lie when it suits them. Little regard to the personal lives of employees. 50-60 hour weeks normal. Most projects START in emergency hard push time schedules. Plenty of folks with PM title, very little project management going on. Was in a "temporary" assignment for 5 years, never to get job title changed.

    Advice to Management

The output of MS Project is NOT a project plan. If you hire project managers, actually listen to them about how to manage projects.

-Limited work/life balance; no regard for amount of time on the road away from family
-Expected to work 12+ hours, 7 days
-"Here's the manual, figure it out or call someone" training methodology
-Travel to crappy destinations (Tunica, Middle-of-nowhere OK, Middle-of-nowhere LA) while staying in hotels with roaches and bedbugs
-2000's era flip phone issued as company cell phone

    -Empty promises

It pays the bills. They never terminate anyone based on poor performance so if you are comfortable about mediocrity you will always have a job. If you like to only do the same thing every day and not interact with other members of your department out side of your "team" then you will succeed at Bally. If you like to play the catty games where your coworkers and your supervisors stab you in the back - you will have an awesome time here at Bally Technologies. The work life balance is one I have never encountered before and cultural diversity is everywhere; they import workers from India (think about the Visa fees) with out their families so they work 18-20 hours a day! I feel sorry for them.

    Cons

I was actually told that if I wanted to get the resources to get my job done well, I would have to fail at my job. This company is ran by 1980's management styles with 1990's technology. I can only hope with the pending acquisition that they get rid of all managers from the Executive level down to the middle management, wipe the slate clean and start fresh. Human Resources is horrible. You can complain, be assertive, provide constructive critisism all you want, they don't care. They will step over a dollar to save a dime.

    Advice to Management

    Good Luck.
