    Pros

Good environment to work for. Employees seem to be talented and experts in their job.

    Cons

Better project managements. Lack consistency in project plans and managers do not listen to employee opinions in project directions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should listen to employees on work and plan according to that. Set deadlines seems never met for any projects. Every project seems to bleed well over the set deadlines.

I have been working at Bally Technologies full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of creative people on the system side of the company, lots of interesting potential but not sure how the acquisition will affect things.

    Cons

Lots of company politics, despite record revenues company doesn't reward employees, few people seem to have grasp of all the moving parts, there is a focus more on deadlines than on improving quality

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

when you focus only on getting the product on schedule teams will focus on making simpler products.

Slim opportunities for advancement. Not people focused.

    I worked at Bally Technologies

    Pros

Some locations/departments are managed well. Fair wage and benefits.

    Cons

Culture shifted. Bottom Line oriented. Personnel devalued. Some locations/departments rely on politics and finger pointing to deflect poor performance. Out-dated business operating systems.

Job was decently difficult and pay was OK but deadlines and at time inept bosses can be a bit much to deal with daily.

I worked at Bally Technologies full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The culture was pretty laid back at least in the Games department Systems might be a different story. Depending on your boss they were pretty flexible with PTO for whatever reason(even though you are expected to meet the deadline regardless of vacations)

    Cons

Compensation was not bad but not great. Some of the politics you have to deal with can be tough. There isn't a ton of room for growth no matter your qualifications. You can be the best, smartest, qualified employee but unless the upper management dies or retires it seems hard to move up in the ranks as I witnessed with several coworkers who ended up leaving the company for that reason.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be a little bit more understanding of your "code monkeys". They are people with lives, problems, and families just like you. I know the deadlines are important but so is the actual quality of the product. You can have it fast or now but not usually both, at least not without also running your coders into the ground and killing morale.

    Pros

Nice people below management. Padding words

    Cons

Instead of laying you off, they will find some way to fire you and you'll be escorted out by the guards. I saw several very good people treated that way. Now this said everything I wanted to say, but they impose a silly minimum word standard. This last two sentences are absolutely meaningless, but are padding the the word count

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Appreciate your employees.

I worked at Bally Technologies full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

My coworkers were awesome, we had lot's of new technology to use and learn, my specific section spent money on labs (although I know this wasn't the case in other parts of the company).

    Cons

No career movement unless you're a "favorite". When I was initially hired, I was promised a promotion after one year. Needless to say, that never happened after numerous years and I'm in the same position I was in when I first came on board. Bally expects employees to be available to them at all times. Management also feels you owe them something because they hired you. There isn't clear direction in moving forward as a whole.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your employees are your most valuable resource. Measuring their worth goes beyond a tangible number on an accounting statement. My promotion was delayed for months (and still is which ultimately led to my resignation) due to "tough times" in the organization, but every VP (seriously, every. single. one.) was promoted to Senior VP.
