I have been working at Bally Technologies full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I cannot think of any good reasons right now. The place could be worst but it's just okay

    Cons

The supervisor likes to micromanage and he has his favorite employees that get away with any and everything.

    Advice to Management

They need to keep an eye on the way the supervisors treat employees like property instead of employees.

I worked at Bally Technologies (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Genuine collaboration with employees based in Reno, Nv.

    Cons

Cultural differences between offices created high walls and encumbered progress. Some offices in home office had an air of superiority.

    Advice to Management

Make the culture company wide. Ensure the culture is positive and encourage collaboration between offices, divisions, and management levels.

    Pros

Great company, good benefits and great co-workers

    Cons

Fear of lay-offs and mandatory overtime created burnout and low moral

    Advice to Management

Treat employees how you would want to be treated

I worked at Bally Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Learned a lot at a relatively young age. They treat employees pretty well. Holiday parties and monthly BBQs in the summer are fun.

    Cons

At some points the work can get a little stagnant. Bally shouldn't be afraid to break out of the gaming "box". Better pay and moving up should be a lot easier to attain. Management is very "corporate".

    Advice to Management

Let your employees in the art department hang things on the walls! It is an "art" department. Wouldn't creativity be good for business?

    Cons

Lots of office politics and leading questions

    Don't micromanage

I have been working at Bally Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good environment to work for. Employees seem to be talented and experts in their job.

    Cons

Better project managements. Lack consistency in project plans and managers do not listen to employee opinions in project directions.

    Advice to Management

Management should listen to employees on work and plan according to that. Set deadlines seems never met for any projects. Every project seems to bleed well over the set deadlines.

I have been working at Bally Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of creative people on the system side of the company, lots of interesting potential but not sure how the acquisition will affect things.

    Cons

Lots of company politics, despite record revenues company doesn't reward employees, few people seem to have grasp of all the moving parts, there is a focus more on deadlines than on improving quality

    Advice to Management

when you focus only on getting the product on schedule teams will focus on making simpler products.

  10. Helpful (1)

Job was decently difficult and pay was OK but deadlines and at time inept bosses can be a bit much to deal with daily.

I worked at Bally Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The culture was pretty laid back at least in the Games department Systems might be a different story. Depending on your boss they were pretty flexible with PTO for whatever reason(even though you are expected to meet the deadline regardless of vacations)

    Cons

Compensation was not bad but not great. Some of the politics you have to deal with can be tough. There isn't a ton of room for growth no matter your qualifications. You can be the best, smartest, qualified employee but unless the upper management dies or retires it seems hard to move up in the ranks as I witnessed with several coworkers who ended up leaving the company for that reason.

    Advice to Management

Be a little bit more understanding of your "code monkeys". They are people with lives, problems, and families just like you. I know the deadlines are important but so is the actual quality of the product. You can have it fast or now but not usually both, at least not without also running your coders into the ground and killing morale.

    Advice to Management

Increase the staff distribute the work so that people will not always stay till 7:00P.M.
