I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company; allows room for growth and professional development; good compensation at a basic level; a fair and equal working environment

    Cons

    It really depends on the store you work at the kind of experience you're going to have and the leadership team is a massive part of it;

    Pros

Good working environment. You also get to shop there and get very good deals and the majority of their clothes is very cute.

    Cons

You really do not get as many hours and the shifts are never stable.

    Advice to Management

Say thank you more often. We really do our best and we never get acknowledged.

I've been with Banana republic for 4 years so far, Awesome friendships made Company cares about employees

    Cons

Hard to move up 15 cent raises a year don't make a difference Hate how when new people make the same as somebody who has been in the company for 4 years like me.. sort of discouraging since I'm more experienced and tried hard to get to where I am today .

    Pros

We get a 50% discount. Co-workers are cool.

    Cons

This used to be a place where scheduling was very flexible. The company recently implemented a system where they send schedules out 3 weeks in advance, and now we no longer have any time to plan anything outside of work because we seem to be getting a new schedule every damn day. There are a lot more call outs as a result. If you work here, do yourself a favor and try to get in as a cashier. You will have the easiest job and the only opportunity for a little promotion to cash lead. Everyone else in the store is constantly given more responsibilities without the title and compensation to match. Exlcluding a few, management is made up of people who received their jobs not through talent and business savvy, but through connections made by making friends with the right person. Therefore, you end up with a management team that is completely unsupportive when it comes to development and who will even stop any progress you might be making on your own. Yes, they are that petty. You will work hard, put in 40 hours a week (even though your part time), work overnight, stay past your shift, work on your day off and do everything you can to make a positive contribution to the success of your store, and be told that you can't be promoted because you don't smile enough. My advice: take what you learn here and get a job at another retailer that will be more than willing to pay you above average for what you do. This should really only be a side job.

    Advice to Management

Promotions should be based on merit, rather than "hook-ups". Associates who are expected to fill every role should be paid more for their expertise.

I have been working at Banana Republic (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employee discount is a huge draw if you like the look of the clothing, and the managers seem to work around MY school schedule which can be quite hectic

    Cons

Unless you know someone, or play suck up, promotion is out of the question, no guarantee of minimum hours (you might only ask 15 and get 5 if business is dead), management seems keen for a role in politics--play along to get along, or don't play at all
