I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Associates are really nice, fun work in enviorment, makes you feel like your apart of a family. Casual dress code.

    Cons

Managment is terribe, no one there knows what they are doing. They make rules that they do not follow themselves. It hard for career advancement. Sometimes they make you feel like you will move up, just to make you feel satisfied then bring someone else in instead.

    Pros

I like to work at my own pace on my own with no distractions. I was given that opportunity here to work where I was comfortable.

    Cons

    Employees and managers we disorganized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Some of the employees are helpful and great people.

    Cons

Management is extremely unorganized and never on the same page. One will tell you one thing and another will tell you another thing. Stock room is very unorganized so it is hard to do daily tasks. I've only been here for a couple of days and unfortunately it's getting worse everyday I go into work. Dress code concept is nice, but they insinuate that fact that you should buy their clothes. Very disappointing experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should genuinely care for their employees and install confidence to the employees. Management has led by example, a bad one at that, and give off an uncomfortable working environment.

Little to no opportunity for growth in the company. Also, they put no effort in your development.

I worked at Banana Republic full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Store was 5 minutes from my house so I had a short commute and I loved my team that I worked with.

    Cons

District management was terrible. There were some stores in the district that the DM hadn't visited in over 2 years. There was no development for any of the staff - from management team to sales team. Company doesn't put any effort in improving employees.

    Pros

    You can definatley learn how to dress by working here. This job is good for students but if your looking for a life then this is not what you want.;

    Cons

Pay is not great. start you at 9.50per hour. Managers act like its a priviledge to make 9.50 an hour. thought the discount was great until i found out they have specials every month where the customer saves just as much as employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

no advice, its really not the mangers its the structure of the company.

    Pros

Good benefits and discount. A lot of opportunities within the company. The company is very involved with volunteering in the community.

    Cons

Work life balance is terrible. The company is constantly changing direction. Way too many promotions that constantly change, frustrates the customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Enough with the constant promos. Produce a quality product and stand behind it.

I worked at Banana Republic part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The employee discount was great. The majority of the people I worked with were awesome as well. Many hours to go around, some customers were great. The casual attire was awesome, but too strict on some people while others got away with shorter and non-professional clothing.

    Cons

Managers only cared about getting a certain amount of BRC credit cards. They pressured you into moving past 3 "no's" I could tell when a customer didn't want to be bothered with the conversation but I would have to keep asking. otherwise I'd get pulled into the office. READ your employee guidelines!!! Don't ask another employee about what you can and can't do- they probably don't even know. Doing research on your own time to figure out the lingo otherwise the managers will roll their eyes and then laugh to another employee about it. The training you get is useless and the stuff you need to know, you'll have to research or face being laughed at. When it comes to customers you are allowed to say no to them, but a manager will turn around and go against company rules. only to make the employee look stupid I.E. returning items that are final sale, washed, worn, torn, or even from 2011

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train better! let them know what hangers go with what garments. When to and to not to give plastic over mesh hanging bags. Discuss the BRC card to them, customers will ask questions and sales will go down if employees only know that they can save %15 by signing up

    Pros

The employees are friendly and management is normally flexible with scheduling.

    Cons

Very poor compensation. Company portrays as if they promote from within- they don't. Enjoy working all weekend while your managers & store GM's enjoy their weekends off so they can come back on monday to complain about any & everything. Company pays a very low salary while demanding its workers to overachieve and dress as if they're auditioning for a GQ cover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good job at brown nosing.
