I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

You will see how style is trending and everyone will help each other for store to achieve successful day. If you show your are worthy for store, you will get hours you desire (unless store is very slow or too many people working)

    Cons

Since brand is in style, it might get busy. Employee discounts can be slightly better.

I worked at Banana Republic part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

They were usually pretty good about flexible schedules, the pay was GREAT and GAP itself is a wonderful company that has decent benefits. Most of my managers were very easy-going, I loved all my fellow employees, and the GAP-wide discount was especially a plus.

    Cons

The phrase "fast-paced" work environment is no joke, as the job can be pretty exhausting. Another annoying part was the constant expectation to sell Banana cards (the store credit card) and being on-call for work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Please relax about the cards

I have been working at Banana Republic full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    available hours
    Friendly people to work with
Easy to move up if your a great employee

    Cons

Explanations about what to do for different situations can get confusing with the amount of managers at the store

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everyone on the same page about everything. Can get confusing on what I should be doing when one person tells me one thing one way and another tells me differently.

I worked at Banana Republic part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Having worked at a brfs for four years, I became really close with my coworkers. They were like my second family. Also, the employee discount was pretty awesome. Where I worked I got 40 hours a week, despite being a "part time" associate.

    Cons

Its retail, so the hours sucked. That and when I was a stock sup, it seemed like the expectations were unrealistic and unattainable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your UPH goals, man. The highest shipment UPH I ever hit was 167, and that was only once, and it was a tiny truck. Make your process expectations realistic, and give us more payroll for workload.

I have been working at Banana Republic part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

As long as the managers have everything organized and everyone is on the same page it is a fun and lively atmosphere. Definitely use Banana Republic as a networking tool. While getting to know customers and building a relationship you are helping yourself and Banana Republic. If anything else you will have the opportunity to hear some very interesting stories from customers, and, possibly, sustain some wisdom from the older generation. One customer I met said so little but provided such an impact to my life that I have changed my perspective of life and attempt to achieve happiness every day no matter the situation.

    Cons

Holiday's are very stressful with all of the emotionally shopping customers. There will be conflict with customers due to high traffic volume and non-existent patience with the customers. The best way to resolve any disputes is to smile and be as nice as possible. Getting emotional with the customers will never resort to a progressive resolution.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This tends to be a problem with most companies but it is to stay on the same page and communicate everything effectively with all levels of staffing. Also, with holidays, provide proper training on the floor and cash rep. The need to have employees that can work the floor and the cash rep at any given point in time is vital to keep the stresses of the workplace down.
