    Pros

Benefits, Time off, visibility to executives. Great employees. A very accepting culture. Good collaboration. Not overly political, which is good for a bank.

    Cons

Everything needs approval, from multiple people (different from getting consensus)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to have better ways to differentiate performers at the lower levels.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The wide footprint can provide opportunity if you either live near one of their hub cities or are willing to move.

    Cons

Difficult to maneuver through the maze of such an enormous company. Much information gets lost when dealing with so many. The layers of people and overlapping structures can impede progress, in spite of the efforts made by Sr. Mgmt to remove obstacles and empower employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understanding that restructuring to remain nimble is often necessary, care needs to be taken to ensure that the leadership understands the area to which they are being assigned. Equally important is the need to eliminate restaffing the mgmt. team with their friends/former associates when those individuals also do not understand the particular line of business. The well intended "fresh approach", in reality, becomes a group of leaders who do not understand what the heck is going on. Motivation drops. You often end up with one ill-equipped leader dealing with another ill-equipped leader, and so on...

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Generous vacation and holiday benefits. Emphasis on professional growth, with opportunities to mentor with executive leadership. High expectations.

    Cons

There is a culture of taking on more responsibilities than people can actually handle. Cost cutting and combining roles has created an atmosphere of fear and obligation to work long hours.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are fantastic, with 12 weeks maternity leave, decent 401k match.

    Cons

I did about 3 people's jobs and wasn't given a raise or a promotion. People I know left the bank for the same reason. You job role will change or they will make you do things far above your pay grade, but when you do it, you're not given compensation fairly, and 9/10 times, they will make sure you don't meet expectations so that they keep you with your knowledge where you are. I don't feel valued or appreciated as an employee, and while it's a good job out of school, I think it's very frustrating sometimes. Culture is cut throat in some parts of the bank, while laid back in others, so inconsistent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

play people to their strengths and don't hold people back, or they will leave the company for far better things elsewhere.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time

    Pros

Benefits and time off are decent.

    Cons

Company offered work from home program then took it away. Too much division/manager discretion on employee management and not enough backbone from HR. The Bank has also been in a downward employee satisfaction spiral since the economic crisis and has been cutting employee perks ever since. The company has also cut out all non-essential travel so there is no opportunity to further develop business partner relationships and/or support on-site LOB testing. Many full time jobs are not being back-filled and/or are contractor filled only. Constant training of the revolving door of contractors is a huge waste of time.
