The good , the bad , the ugly!

Project Manager - Channels (Former Employee)
Charlotte, NC

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 5 years

ProsPaid well - Management leaves you alone - Allowed to work independently. Usually due to Management's lack of involvement. Lots of freedom. If you get with a manager that takes the time to set a tone / culture of TEAM - Good place ! If you don't you will realize that the management team above your direct manager , manages the same way! Do I say Apple and the proverbial Tree!

ConsPROCESS gets in the way! Management clueless at times! Just look at the recent Credit Card charges fines and penalties levied by the OCC. $772M, plus a fine of $20M - How the hell didn't Sr Management know that customers were being charged for services not rendered - Some heads should of rolled. I am thinking Contact Center Agents were bounced to sign folks up whether they stated 'YES' or not. Either way - another black mark on the banks !

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunicate with your people. Understand what they do, understand their career goals and be involved. Just because you have the TITLE of Manager/SVP by default doesn't make you a LEADER.
Focus on performance reviews and get involved in employees career development - MANAGE<MENT is good at managing up - REACTIVE - but managing people/ down - NEEDS SOME SOLID WORK!

Complicated

I worked at Bank of America as a contractor for more than a year

ProsYou will learn a ton and you are given a lot of responsibility. There will definitely be growth and challenges. It is an opportunity to become a guru in your field.

ConsIt is hard to get permanent employment. There is a marked difference in treatment of temps and permanent employees which impacts the overall morale in a negative way. No matter what office I worked in there were always was petty behavior which was not addressed.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire managers that are mature and well grounded. Make people accountable for their negative behavior.
