No longer a good place to work.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Charlotte, NC

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 10 years

ProsBase pay can be good, if you're willing to put up with the stress, threats and backstabbing.

ConsBOA was a great place to work when I first started and through until 2008. Since then everything that made it great (benefits, bonus potentials, work/life balance, teamwork, integrity, dignity) has been stripped bare and all that's left is desperation. Goals, performance reviews and bonus levels are changed mid-stream making them difficult to meet. Your experience at BOA is only as good as your manager, and there aren't many good ones left. Too many managers at BOA who are only out for themselves and will bury you to get ahead, if that's what it takes. It makes me sad to see what BOA has become.

Advice to Senior ManagementI won't waste my breath. The lip service they give to caring about employees is only that, and nothing I say here will bring back the BOA that I loved working for.

You are judged by who thinks you are good not how professional you are!

Teller (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at Bank of America part-time for less than a year

ProsGood environment and nice location. It is easy to grab some cheap Chinese food and bubble tea during your lunch break. You can grow up quickly in this branch because you are dealing with thousands of customers within ONE week. If you are aiming to gain more experiences not just do your job, this particular branch at 50 Bayard street is a good choice.

ConsLots of workplace politics and especially when you are new in this branch. Your coworkers will start target at you when your performance score are higher than them and the more you try to hold your ground, the more they feel intimidated and the more pressure you will get from them. SSS will intentionally forget to retrieve your referral if you don't suck up with them. Work life balance is a joke here because the upper management will ask you work 8 days continuously to make up some senior employee's last minute request. Overtime is as said never happen and even it happened they will put it to next week.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore surprising auditing and transferring associates to different branches might help.

Officer, Lead Operations Representative (Current Employee)

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 10 years

ProsPros none. Management does not promote or pay top talent and leadership does not know how to lead people to create positive results.

ConsDepartments within LAS do not buy office. If you want coffee you have to bring your own. HR and management laughs at you when reporting issues about an associates(code of ethics issues when a manager oversteps authority over an associate) or homeowners issues. Managers showing highly favoritism to particular associates and if your are not one of them you will not get promoted. Even if you follow all the banks policies and procedures. Management doesn't help promote associates who display the company in a positive way. Management constantly talks down to associates and degrades work ethic.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop promoting poor leaders and start listening to your lower level associates. Stop demoralizing associates.

Work for BOA for many years

Teller, Personal Banker, Sss Assistant Manager (Former Employee)
Naples, FL

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 10 years

ProsThe bank has a lot of benefits, They help my son with a schoolarship in order to go to university of Florida. Also they help you out with schoolarship for employees if you would like to keep going to school. Other benefits are Medical, Dental, vision 401k etc. etc.

ConsI work for this bank for many years, I hold different possitions with them I was a teller, Personal Banker, Assistant manager Sales and Service Specialist. when I was producing everybody was happy with me they wanted to clone me to get more of me hahahaha. They use you while they can and they bye bye..I was very good in customer service and sales. In the begining I really enjoyed my job because it was not that demanding, I treated my customers really well because it wasn't the preasure for goals..After a few years everything became a nightmare micromanaging us it was horrible. Now it is impossible to work for them, I got sick just thinking about how can I make my goals, I did not sleep I could think anymore. I was moved to three branches before they let me go. Bank of America was not fair with me. After 20+ years one day after I was writing up for everything small things they told me I could not work for that bank anymore. I think at this time BOA only think about $$$$$$ customer are a number and the employees also a #### numbers. I will only recommend to work there people that really can handle high preasure and please see a doctor before you start and you ll see how your results are after a year of woriking for them...Sorry BOA you are so big that you don't care about anything just to make money.

Advice to Senior ManagementCEO more consideration for the employees please..

To big to succeed.

Assistant Vice President (Former Employee)
Simi Valley, CA

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than a year

ProsI can't think of any. This is truly the worst company I have ever worked for.

ConsEmployees are treated like crap and live in constant fear of being laid off. I worked there less than 2 1/2 years and was witness to over 30,000 layoffs until I got mine. The bureaucracy is stifling and results in almost nothing ever getting done on time or at all. Incompetence seems to be the order of the day among senior management and almost everyone is a Senior VP (which means nothing).

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn something about the people you plan to layoff before making a casual decision to fire them. I had two people working for me, who were the two best employees I had ever had in over 30 years in business and had a combined 46 years of service to the bank (one was a year away from being fully vested in her pension), and they were let go without any input from me or my manger.

Aggressive sales goals, upper management did not care for employees.

Sales and Service Specialist (Current Employee)
Huntington Beach, CA

I have been working at Bank of America part-time for more than 3 years

ProsAmazing coworkers at the branch level. Tuition reimbursement was 2500 per semester. Paid holidays, good benefits.

ConsThe company had ridiculous sales goals and did not truly care about their clients. It didn't feel right to work for a company which such low regard for its customers. Shady.
