I worked at Bank of America part-time for less than a year

    Pros

You get a thirty minute lunch, and a decently kind manager, and decent benefits.

    Cons

Such decently kind manager does not bother taking the mantle of leadership while he/she puts all the work on her assistant manager, who says inappropriate things to you at work. Such assistant manager once said to me: "What's wrong--did someone in your family die or something?" They force you to take the weekend shifts without warning because "you're new" and it doesn't matter if you've already had prior engagements.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take your employee complaints more seriously.

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

BOA is a huge company and there are certainly many terrific people working there. Most of the people I worked with were as smart and pleasant and professional as anywhere else.

    Cons

I don't feel that leadership cares about its customers. There was a sense that they had plenty of money to pay off lawsuits, so who cares what they did. While I was there, they had serious discussions about creating a new charge for all banking customers - to cover penalties they faced for their actions during the mortgage crisis - but cancelled when it became a PR debacle. Coincidentally, a family member applied for a mortgage while I worked there - not my department, I wasn't involved - and they strung them along, got them to pay a $500 application fee, kept them waiting for 6-8 months, and then turned them down.

It's an extremely political environment. If you're ever faced with the dilemma of doing the right thing or choosing a side, just be sure you choose the right side. Doing the right thing won't be an issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Because of the culture and environment created by leadership, not only would I never want to work for BOA again, I would never do business with them. If they offered me services, free of charge, I wouldn't trust them enough to take advantage.

I have been working at Bank of America part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good environment and nice location. It is easy to grab some cheap Chinese food and bubble tea during your lunch break. You can grow up quickly in this branch because you are dealing with thousands of customers within ONE week. If you are aiming to gain more experiences not just do your job, this particular branch at 50 Bayard street is a good choice.

    Cons

Lots of workplace politics and especially when you are new in this branch. Your coworkers will start target at you when your performance score are higher than them and the more you try to hold your ground, the more they feel intimidated and the more pressure you will get from them. SSS will intentionally forget to retrieve your referral if you don't suck up with them. Work life balance is a joke here because the upper management will ask you work 8 days continuously to make up some senior employee's last minute request. Overtime is as said never happen and even it happened they will put it to next week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More surprising auditing and transferring associates to different branches might help.

Current Employee - Corporate Audit in New York, NY

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Exposure to many products, strategies and business controls gives associates incredible insight into the workings of a large and complex institution.

    Cons

Corporate Audit has incredible turnover. Management demands 60+ hours per week. Compensation does not keep up with demand. In fact, Bonuses have been cut 10% year after year while demands increase. The philosophy of Corporate Audit is the associates family life comes second.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement all aspects of the employee voice feedback. The same results have been the same year after year with no progress. Also, eliminate management that drives their group with threats and fear.

    Pros

BOA Discount Program, co-workers, being in the city

    Cons

Chaotic branch structure (work stations, supplies, etc.), poor management that are not proactive and set very poor examples for the rest of the staff, terrible displays of customer service. I am embarrassed to say that I worked there.

    Pros

    Decent Health Insurance
    Decent 401k

    Cons

BoA continues to siphon profits from ML
    Zero reinvestment in ML

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Workloads of ML WM ManagementAdministrative and support staff doubled over past 2 years with no increase in pay. BoA thanks ML employees by decreasing headcount in management, admin and support staff. expects everyone to do more with less. Hello BoA management, if you want all of ML's wealth management clients to transition into BoA clients, why not be up front about it?
