Abuse its employees since tellers are becoming less and less needed for profit

Teller (Former Employee)
Frisco, TX

I worked at Bank of America part-time for more than a year

ProsShort saturdays, closed on sundays and national holidays

ConsExhausting job, no management appreciation. ALWAYS understaffed in every branch and they like it that way. ALWAYS standing (for hours) and even breaks are interrupted if there is pressure in the branch. No respect for personal life. managers IQ is or very low or that they don't care.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdvice? This company is so big that I'm not sure the board of directors even knows they have tellers on the payroll.

It was frustrating

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 8 years

ProsThe company believes in broadly training their associates and inclusive meritocracy, at least that is what they say and promote inside the company.

ConsWhen the company I worked for was purchased in 2007, the old company's retirement plan took precedence. Bank of America has a better retirement program than Countrywide Home Loans did so in effect, Bank of America wouldn't allow previous Countrywide employees the same retirement as their legacy Bank of America employees. I have known previous Countrywide employees who gained employment after the purchase at Bank of America. They said they were disappointed because the bank reinstated their old Countrywide retirement instead of the Bank of America plan.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat all employees the same, the Countrywide employees still employed by Bank of America don't deserve to be made to feel like the "red headed stepchildren" that are now sort of a thorn in the bank's side.

NO respect; No bonus

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Bank of America for more than 10 years

ProsRoom for advancement if you have a good BCM that doesn't want to hold you back.

ConsBecause of electronics (mobil, ATM, and online banking), tellers are need less and less. They are responsible for putting in customers complaints, referrals (really selling which is PB's job), balancing, policing (fraud, suspisious activity, etc.) plus alot more and get paid less and don't get any bonuses.
does that sound good to you?

Very bad place to work

Teller (Current Employee)

I have been working at Bank of America part-time for more than a year

ProsEnjoy time with co-workers, banker hours are great. The benefits are also really good.

ConsMicro-management environment, little pay and a lot of work. They do not mind working you short staffed for months on end and still want high performance demands when you do not have the staff to even function. There is no employee empowerment at all. It is also very hard to get time off even for important doctors appointments. All they care about is making money, not about the customers or employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive your employees some empowerment and stop the micro-management style, it is not productive.

Bank of America - Loss Mitigation

Process Support (Former Employee)
West Seneca, NY

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than a year

ProsWorked with SOME nice people. The job itself was extremely easy.

ConsAll management levels on site were lacking in competence and common sense, not to mention education. The entire center's operation is a complete "What Not To Do" in management. I suppose common sense isn't so common. The hours/shifts are that of a factory, not of a banking facility. Going into work every day made my brain hurt, and not because I used it. It was because I left that place each day being dumber than when I arrived. The pay was bad as well.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire people that are competent and educated. It's plain and simple.

Worst company ever

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee)
East Providence, RI

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThe pay rate was relatively decent, but there was absolutely nothing else positive about my experience working for this company.

ConsManagement considered their employees to be replaceable and did not foster a good workplace environment. They did not care about the workers whatsoever, to the point of cutting off my medical insurance without notice while I was on a medical leave. It was impossible to move forward in the company without kissing up to everyone ahead on the totem pole. This was the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of working for.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere is no point in giving advice, since they refuse to admit anything wrong with their policies.

Terrible company to work for. Over-stressed and under-paid.

Personal Banker (Former Employee)
Boston, MA

I worked at Bank of America full-time for less than a year

ProsGood hours.
Opportunity for advancement.
competetive environment.

ConsTerrible computerized training.
Big time stress for entry-level pay.
Misguided leadership with little to no cohesiveness.
Elitest regional director who loves to threaten everyones job.
I left this job to save my soul and pursue employment with more appropriate compensation.
I chose to write this review to hopefully save others from taking this awful job.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet off your high horse and learn more effective ways of leadership other than scare tactics and finger pointing.

Most stressful job ive ever had

Teller Operations Specialist (Current Employee)
Chicago, IL

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThe pay was good, most of the co workers were really nice, customers for the most part were nice.

ConsThe technology used was old, the bosses micro manage so much and were jerks, understaffed, bosses only looking out for themselves and how they look to higher ups. My Part time job felt like a Full time job and I had nightmares sometimes.

Advice to Senior ManagementI believe that good management comes from helping your staff grow and trust you. If you teach your staff how to work well together and sales go up great, if you staff is doing their jobs and sales arent going so well ALSO GREAT. At the very least they are trying and the sales will come as long as the team doesnt feel like the banks failure is theirs and theirs alone. A totally stressed staff will only further send you down the rabbit hole. Learn how to deal with your staff, not everyone reacts the same way to demands.
