It was ok.

Teller (Current Employee)

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than a year

ProsI was able to have holidays off.

ConsWork schedule is never set, you work six days a week.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to be consistent with days and hours, so that Tellers don't have to work 6 days a week every week and give breaks, not just lunch. Also, forcing Teller's to get referrals is so very stressful. I feel like I'm pressuring the customer because I'm getting pressured.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Had a great career at BAC until I hit the Home Loans area.

Group Operations Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 10 years

ProsLeadership seems to be making sound decisions.

ConsLeadership still needs to clean house for the legacy companies they have acquired. Should learn from prior mistakes not remain committed to same bad decisions.

Advice to Senior ManagementClean out more CW infection.

It would have been a great experience, if it wasn't for the district manager breathing down your neck all the time.

Teller (Former Employee)
San Bernardino, CA

I worked at Bank of America part-time for more than a year

ProsPay wasn't the best but it sure does beat minimum wage.

ConsConsidering that the bank is the busiest in the area it would be nice for management to consider chairs, it may not seem like a big deal to some but consider working for 8 hours in one position. I understand it is a bank and their are a lot of regulations to be followed but the assistant managers displaced their stress on tellers. Forget getting sick or an emergency happening, NO DAYS OFF. My coworker had to drop a quarter at school because she couldn't get the days off and she couldn't find another job.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider that we are human, not machines.

Decent company to work for.

Sales & Service Specialist (Current Employee)
Nashville, TN

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than a year

ProsName recognition, solid benefits and vacation.

ConsYour experience at BOA relies on who your manager is. In a branch environment I have experienced a manager who tries to be so by the book that they don't care about what actually works or makes sense for customers.

Advice to Senior ManagementJust improve methods for employees voices to be heard to upper management while staying anonymous to our immediate management.

Great ideals -- but not always lived up to

Project Manager (Former Employee)

I worked at Bank of America as a contractor for more than 3 years

ProsWorked with many talented people. Great company values.

ConsNot ideal for contractors. They pay below market rates for contract work because there are so many people looking. Poor planning will sometimes cancel projects and dump contractors at a moment's notice. During the banking crisis, when they were busy giving cushy bonuses to Merrill employees, they actually lowered the rates for all the contractors in my unit in the middle of their contracts.

Advice to Senior ManagementLive up to your values. Don't hire contractors and lower their rates in the middle of contracts. Abandon the silly 18 month limit to carrying contractors.

Too many hands

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Bank of America

ProsGood benefits. Opportunities to move up if you are in the right department. Great resources for personal growth and learning.

ConsMicro management depending on where you are. Associates have grown to expect too much from leadership and support to appease them. It's a beast they themselves have created. Who's the boss here? Some departments do not pay well compared to others.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake business decision at the lower level without SOOO much associate feedback. Business needs are just that, should matter if associates complain.

Stressful environment, but I was able to increase my knowledge of banking and mortgage.

Customer Relationship Manager Ll (Former Employee)
Richardson, TX

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 5 years

ProsGood benefits, descent pay, and tuition assistance.

ConsManagement that is not knowable and able to assist you. No clear direction and poor communication.

Advice to Senior ManagementA happy employee is a productive employee. Take the time to listen to your employees.
