    Pros

You may be allowed to work from home from time to time, although this practice has been banned recently.

    Cons

    1) You have to fight for your compensation year after year. Unless you threaten to leave there are no increases on the base and it takes to get good connections to get a decent bonus. The management will always lie that it was a bad year for the bank and "everyone" gets little or nothing. In reality, those well connected get 50k+ bonuses.

    2) A group of former Linux administrators hijacked the bank. They are forcing all Java and C++ developers to move to a scripting language called Python and their Quartz framework. These people know nothing about object-oriented programming, encapsulation and best practices, yet they force everyone to embrace their technology. Lots of good Java and C++ developers left the bank. Python people got promoted and huge bonuses while the whole platform is failing.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the CTO and Python people.

  2. Bank of America as a whole night not be do bad, but the Philadelphia branch Bank of America/Merrill Lynch is horrible.

    Pros

Vacation time is pretty good especially if you are just starting out. You get two paid weeks along with eight sick and two personal.

    Cons

Pay is horrible. They want to over work the people on salary and basically want you to have no outside life. The hourly people they basically kick out so they don't have to pay over time to.
The managers put people in charge but then micro manage everything. They do not treat anyone fairly. The managers are sexist and racist.

    Advice to Management

Stop micro managing & treat all employees the same. They could have major law suits against them.

    Pros

College reimbursement program helped pay for more than half of my tuition.

    Cons

They work you to the bone and the turnover is like a revolving door. People are constantly coming and going so it's hard to establish a proper relationship with anyone. Customers are hell to deal with. People go crazy if you screw up their coffee order, imagine their bank accounts or money?

    Pros

Great associates to be around and work with.

    Cons

No training and you will be blamed for other people's faults. Supervisors do not inspect what they suspect. They will flat out lie to HR to keep their jobs. HR pretty does nothing to investigate any internal complaints.

    Pros

I worked at Bank of America for over a year and it was a great experience. I met a lot of great people. Finished in the top percent nationally in my line of business

    Cons

Yearly raises for performances. I wouldn't call them raises though when top performers get a Max of approx 40 cents. They tell you about how you can grow into new roles in the bank. That is true but don't expect to be paid . I went from a band 7 to a band 6 position and received a raise for one dollar .

    Advice to Management

If you have a college degree and are a self motivated individual don't waste your time here . You can do wonders and I mean top5 nationally in your line of business and won't get a thing. They don't care about employees and don't compensate them accordingly. Go to jp Morgan or even capital one if your considering Bank of America. Those corporation compensate with cash and Bank of America compensates with Congratulation balloons and laminated awards that mean nothing .

  9. Very stressful, training is non-existent and they don't believe in what they preach.

    Cons

Everything, they don't teach you anything! The CMM's are stuck in their position, so they make you feel like there isn't any room for growth.

    Pros

its a good place to learn the basics of finance and money

    Cons

Constantly adding required redundant online tutorials and make no sense, always pressured to have clients meet a personal banker even though the client 98.9% of the time just wants to get in the bank and out. Also always get pressured to be quick and efficaint yet are required to dedicate 100% attention to client, and get many orders from three supervisors which can be confusing. Everything is constantly changing which makes everyone confused and causes the client to loose it with the bank and threaten to close accounts. Extremely difficult to move up the only way to move up is to FORCE clients to meet a personal banker in addition want to reduce the amount of tellers and have clients use the ATMs instead and many people don't like the ATMs. They really need to change the way they do business. Finally wage is too close to minimum wage for what the tellers are put through everyday.

    Advice to Management

    listen to your tellers

    Cons

Senior Leadership IT Disconnected from work force, Bureaucracy, Tools not working, Difficulty in doing job due to bureaucracy,

    Advice to Management

Listen to the IT Work force with the intent to learn how things actually get done. Warning though when you make comments that "if you are not with us your against us" you will limit the factual feedback you are needing to make better decisions.
