Former Employee – worked at Bank of New York Mellon as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Highly educated employees with tons of knowledge and a lot to learn from. Compensation is always a plus and on the typical standard for investment banking.
Cons – Lack of structure in the summer program. Not many other cons, however more rotation with the trading floors or other departments would also be beneficial for continuing the learning experience.
Advice to Senior Management – I highly advise that the interns are forced to do more projects that get them to interact. It will be a better experience fro everyone.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Pros – Great Benefits, with awesome vacation time. I've worked there for 4 years and have 3 weeks off with the option to buy a week, plus 3 personal days. Next year, at 5 years, I will have 4 weeks with the option to buy a week, plus 3 personal days. Can't beat that.
Cons – It can be difficult to move up. A lot of competition.

Current Employee – been working at Bank of New York Mellon
Pros – Busy and challenging, without being impossible
Cons – Busy is still busy... can be exhausting
Advice to Senior Management – Hire more knowledgeable employees and less contractors. Teaching a contractor who is gone in 6 months is a waste of time.

Pros – The managers give excellent praise when you've done a job well done. It is an exciting company to work for and I've fully enjoyed my internship with them.
Cons – It's an hour commute for me, but that's not really something that is a fault of the companies. I think the only downfall is that they don't give you a paid lunch (at least as an intern).
Advice to Senior Management – I think that they are doing an excellent job. One of the first banks to repay TARP funds and they performed well under their "stress tests"
