    Pros

If you into politics I suggest congress or house of representatives - you are better off at those places, rather then at barcrap.

    Cons

    where to start:
    - long hours - while you are underpaid
    - crappy management - with no support or investment into your future
    - No promotional opportunities unless you are willing to sacrifices your morals and character

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Barclays Capital full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Salary. They paid me a ton of money to recruit me to work there.

    Cons

Culture. The worst political infighting I've ever experienced in my 18 years career on Wall Street. It is also the most bureaucratic firm I've encountered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Well, since old management is dropping like flies, they are on the right track.

I worked at Barclays Capital full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Lots of people with lots of money gives you a sense of being important (even though you're not). Bathroom stalls are amazing with thick wooden dividers from floor to ceiling.

    Cons

Very pretentious. Long hours. Unless you're on top, you're just a b*tch. The sooner you realize it, the sooner you can move on to somewhere else and be happy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't belittle people.

    Pros

    Big name with good benefits

    Cons

Arrogant and selfish management, incompetent and useless managers and terrible work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

LISTEN TO YOUR EMPLOYEES! I used to have a manager at Barclays, who had been there for 7 years - barely came to work, barely did any work and openly showed favoritism! We complained for years but her manager loved her, so they turned a blind eye. LISTEN TO WHAT YOUR EMPLOYEES ARE SAYING AND NOT WHAT YOU THINK YOU WANT TO HEAR!!!

    Pros

Well... Good name on your resume. Smart and agressive people. Lots of stuff to learn. You can get all of these from another investment bank though.

    Cons

Miserable work environment with NO bonus... Never ever trust whatever they told you during your interview or negotiation. None is true.
