    Worst management

Event Manager (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsIf you are a consultant, great place to work

ConsTerrible management. Unrealistic expectations for employees

Advice to Senior ManagementOf you rate employees on expectations, management should live up to those expectations themselves

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Used to be place to work at

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsStill sizable but with all the talent going else where.
    Can't think of anything else...

    ConsHorrible communication by management.
CEO that has been put in by regulators in UK to do Lehman acquisition
Impossible to get promoted these days
Other banks will eat BCS lunch

Advice to Senior ManagementDo what is right for the firm.
Grow some kahunas and stand up to overreaching regulators, remember Barclays didn't need a bailout.

Management does not care about work life balance and your career is determined by managers' internal politics

Vice President (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsCan provide a decent (not great) learning platform

Consincumbent people, politics, blatant disregard of anyone below management and low pay despite tough working conditions

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease try to be more aware of how things are managed and employees paid below the MD level

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Hemorrhaging cash, BWA cuts bonuses and makes VPs do the work of 3 people

Vice President (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsGreat research - name recognition...that's about it. It's very difficult to think of any other pros, honestly. People seem to be defecting left & right.

Conscut-throat culture; local Managing Director has a poor reputation in the industry and creates a challenging & hostile work environment; rather than fostering a team environment, mentorship and advocacy among subordinates and across business lines. It's a real morale killer. Sr. Mngmt pushes reps to sell proprietary structured products & ETNs, even if not suitable.

Advice to Senior Managementdon't hire people without proper due diligence to avoid bringing on-board another Firm's "throw-away"

One of the worst financial services companies I've worked for!

Compliance (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsHigh base salary, good medical benefits and comprehensive employee training for legal and compliance employees.

ConsUnless you are in sales, good luck getting any salary raises or bonuses. You're pretty much stuck to the salary you started with, so make sure you negotiate your salary to your advantage when you start working there. Also, there is a horrible work life balance at the company. I practically lived at the office, eating dinner there and taking a car home pretty much every night while I worked there.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of the of layers of bureaucracy, everyone and their second cousin seems to need sign-off for the most basic changes in the company.

    ProsTraining
Good health benefits compared to American banks
    Towards flexible working

    ConsNo bonus and raises
    Very poor compensation
Flexible working is only on paper
    High attrition

Advice to Senior ManagementRethink the compensation. Attrition is very high
Bring different entities of the firm to work as one company
    Bring open door policy

    Terrible.

    Cashier (Former Employee)

ProsNone what so ever. Awful place to work.

ConsManagement, pressure for sales, complete disregard for anything personal.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop being so uptight. Your sales are great, but remember why you got the holidays you did and who you should thank. Also, if a member of your staff passes away - SHUT THE BRANCH AND LET THE REST OF YOUR STAFF ATTEND THE FUNERAL.

Respect the person and not the job role

Analyst, Information Technology (Current Employee) Knutsford, England (UK)

    ProsWorking with a global workforce

    Inconsistent following of policies
Get fobbed off when you actually have an issue
Inability to commit to long term plans.
