    Pros

The hours were great, the pay and the work schedule.

    Cons

The bus ride from Elko to the Bald Mt. mining site was long 1 hour and 40 minutes each way.

    Pros

Decent pay, benefits, people, multiple sites

    Cons

Driving out to these hell hole sites and having a hell hole of a town. Management could be better.

    Advice to Management

Pay increases based on the number of hours to commute to each site.

    Pros

Cool co-workers! Sometimes there was drama but it was mostly smooth. The gold price hit us hard, both up and down.

    Cons

The drama that did pop up came from managers who you would never have guessed would behave so badly. Yeah, the gold price hit us hard, both up and down.

    Pros

Was once a fantastic place to work. Even with the lean times we have now- benefits and perks far exceed the norm. Opportunities to travel are available as well as relocation

    Cons

Very unstable for the past several years. Layoffs, reorgs, bonus cuts, uncertainty. Very difficult to plan for the future.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to pick a strategy and stick with it for awhile. Change can be slow and expensive. There needs to be some time to reap the rewards be for one rips everything out again and starts over.

    Pros

    Great people
    Great location
    Great compensation
    Really good benefits

    Cons

Glass ceiling - no room for advancement
No succession planning even though HR claims there is one in place - always hire externally rather than promoting from within
3 reorgs within the last 2 years which has caused low, non-existent morale
Staff looking for severance packages rather than wanting to stay
Too many directors - all the reorgs focuses on the workers rather than the upper levels which is where the fat is

    Advice to Management

Barrick used to be a company you were proud to work for but no longer. All these reorgs are forcing people to leave or not want to stay. Also, lack of succession planning, hiring from within and room for advancement is another major problem Barrick needs to fix
Company is too top heavy. Barrick has more directors and positions above directors than most companies.
