This company needs some work to improve employee satisfaction

    Brand Manager (Current Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsWe have some great products. Hours are flexible when life happens. some fun people working there. Pay is only decent, but they do promote from within and across certain functions. Summer hours (for those who have the time to take them).

ConsWORK LIFE BALANCE- major imbalance for a lot of people; this company is understaffed in many departments (with no hope for filling out the staff in the near future). the "perks" of working for this liquor company really comes down to free liquor, which one can simply go to another company for higher salary and buy their own liquor (no other perks here as Beam doesn't sponsor many events or teams). The only real perk is the "cool factor" of saying you work for Jim Beam. Health benefits need a relook.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop acting like we are a small company. You are squeezing every last bit of energy out of your employees which will backfire in lower productivity and higher turnover rate.

Interesting industry, but lots of politics to deal with

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Deerfield, IL

ProsGood brands; interesting categories; some great people work there; global business; company is expanding and growing in importance in industry

ConsI found it to be extremely political. Your success there will depend greatly on who you know, and whether that person remains in power or not.

Advice to Senior ManagementReward people based on their work, not on their connections.

    Racial Favortism

    Senior IT Architect (Current Employee)
    Deerfield, IL

ProsOpportunities to get a lot of responsibilities if you are good at what you do. Specially in IT.

ConsIT Team is full of racial favortism and management is to blame for it. Join the IT team if you are Spanish or at leash know how to speak it. Problem with job security if you show even the slightest sign of slacking. Forget about moving up the ladder if you are not racially inclined with the management.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat employees of all origins equally and respectfully.

All Depends On How You Enter This Company

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Deerfield, IL

ProsThis one is no brainer you get the pleasure of working for a spirits company and all the benefits that come with it.

ConsIt's not as progressive as the company tries to make you believe. Depending on the manager you have it could be a very micro managing experience. If you are in mind career or out of your 20s this experience would be frustrating as they treat everyone like you are fresh out of college.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to address why you have such a high employee turnover rate. It really doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

ConsGenerally speaking the culture can feel very poltical and cut-throat at times
