Prosexcellent pay and corporate culture. fun industry and co-workers who all pull together and are very team-oriented. the training is all available and the perks are lots and lots and lots to drink!

Consill-defined goals and HR policies lead to unexpected Reductions in Force even while company is performing excellently. mobility within the company is spotty and there seem to be hires/fires suddenly and after only short tenures. odd really

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Work hard, play hard

    Finance (Current Employee) Deerfield, IL

ProsVery intelligent group of people running business. Challenging and demanding work. The projects you work on are constantly changing. Good perks for some

ConsPolitical at the top, turnover is quick the higher you go up the ladder. This is especially true in HQ. Revolving personnel door in mid to higher level positions

Was OK, but went the Wrong Direction

    Field Marketing Manager (Former Employee)

ProsAt the time for my department...free alcohol, macro-managed, good people, benefits, flexible working hours.

ConsSeem to have a revolving door. Since I've worked there, executive decisions have been questionable. They got laid off a lot of talented ppl. Lack of high employee morale. Company has turned into a Sales driven company, which contradicts their motto, "building brands."

Advice to Senior ManagementHire talented people who would understand your brands and consumers. Increase morale; who wants to help you increase sales if they don't feel valuable. Stop laying off people. It is not them, it is the executives making dumb decisions.

Too many meetings, not enough autonomy.

    Anonymous (Former Employee)

    ProsGreat benefits and good people.

ConsToo many meetings and a lot of micromanagement.

Advice to Senior ManagementDelegate and trust your people.

Fantastic Career launch - If you survive the stress

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Deerfield, IL

ProsPeople are great, a culture of 'work-hard, play-hard'
Fantastic innovation platform, get to try new products before market and influence development
Ability to control your own career development opportunities
Recently re-designed office space, clean, bright and open
    Liquor allowance for all employees

ConsWork-life balance is a joke. Expect to be glued to your blackberry, even while on vacation.
Little to no training (systems, processes, industry) unless you're in Sales
Job security tenuous at best - expect yearly restructures

Advice to Senior ManagementThe talent that leaves first from burn-out is the talent you can least afford to lose. People with options won't stay in abusive environments. Hold team leaders accountable for improving engagement instead of just reviewing reports and filing them.

Must be comfortable with constant change

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Deerfield, IL

ProsPay, work hours, brand ambassador program, nice perks working at Beam.

ConsBad managers; goals inconsistent across functions; lack of accountability/ownership of issues impacting the ability to meet internal and external customers expectations.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in managers to be leaders; strive towards a proactive organization, not always having to put out fires. Don't take the manager's word for it; ask the teams responsible for the work. It just may save you from making some bad decisions that will later need to be retracted.
