I worked at Bell Canada full-time

    Pros

Easy-going, fun culture. Large company structure so lots of support from various departments and variety of expertise levels. Great coworkers, average work intensity depending on team and manager. Decent amount of technology to learn about but it depends on the team once again. Generally amazing people and everyone is super nice.

    Cons

Depending on the position it's possible to get stuck in terms of learning and not learn anything new after a year or less in position. After waves of layoffs, a project can get completely stuck because the technical expert was laid off or is now in charge of too many projects and doesn't have time to respond to issues/bugs. Can be a challenge to convince to management to allow you to work from home, even for something minimal like once per week.

    Advice to Management

Pay additional attention to knowledge transfer and do not overload expert knowledge or key staff with work to the point that they are no longer supportive.

    Cons

Bureaucracy Frequent movement in senior management Inefficient internal communication High turnover... hard to retain talent

Senior management has very short tenure within the company, leading to the constant shifting of internal messaging and operating direction for the company.

I worked at Bell Canada full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Investment in Strategic Talent Compensation and Benefits Strong Pipeline of Strategic Talent Strong investment in programs provides good initiatives to execute annually

    Cons

Pension keeps poor performers in place Lack of promotion opportunities Career path planning can become quite difficult BBM is an unstable working environment given the constant leadership changes

    Advice to Management

Work on differentiating the product or pricing vs competitors. Canadian Telecom competition is limited, need to create a different approach. Customer service is still relatively poor vs the competition.

I worked at Bell Canada as a contractor

    Pros

Lots of perks Work as part of a fun, young, dynamic team Lots of opportunity to try new things and prove yourself Beautiful campus with lots of outdoor space, high quality cafeteria, gym and activity centres

    Cons

I had a great experience because I worked in a small, specialized and fast-paced department. But it's clear that this is not the case for everyone Some senior managers are great, strong leaders and like to get to know the people who work for them. Others are borderline crazy, rude and egotistical. All depends on what department you work in,

    Advice to Management

Perks are very department based - should be spread out more
