I worked at Best Buy Canada part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Huge variety of merchandise (especially online).
Great staff discounts (depends on brand).
South Vancouver is one of the cleanest, brightest locations.
Non commission for sales persons (reduces a LOT of pressure when talking to people).
As of January 2015, South Van's management team are great people, not just employers.
My manager did notice my strengths were not in sales, so I was moved to product process, and had very little discomfort with the work that was asked of me.

    Cons

I was very unhappy in a sales position (for personal reasons).
Sales reps must have a very broad knowledge of technology to feel comfortable answering customers, and even after months of work might feel blindsided by some questions.
You should expect to ask a lot of questions and teach yourself about processes if you want to do a better job, no hand-holding (not unique to this company, not a huge con)

I worked at Best Buy Canada part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The work environment can be laid back. Since you're not on commission, you're genuinely trying to help out your customers. They believe in growth from within. During the year I worked at Best Buy, a lot of my co workers were able to advance themselves to better positions and to even reach corporate positions.

    Cons

Management can sometimes push you to make extended warranty sales to help reach the store's monthly goal. Pretty typical for a position like this, but you have to deal with some unfriendly customers sometimes due to the fact you work in a tech store.

    Pros

Even if you come from a different background, you are always welcome to share your ideas. So much opportunities to learn and develop yourself.

    Cons

The Salary benefits should increase as because mobile department don't get any commission like other dealer companies or carriers..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to focus on e-learning before launching any new services. It will definitely help the associate to present it to the customer
