job security non regular work week and hours that's about it.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Best Buy Canada part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff and managers are really friendly. The job is not too difficult; you just need to know about cellphones and cellular plans. Having irate customers are rare.

    Cons

There are not too many customers during the morning shift. It can get a little too quite and boring therefore time passes slowly.

    Advice to Management

The management is really nice and the same goes for the staff. One point that they could manage better would be the shift scheduling. The schedule gets posted really late in the week so the staff is left wondering when they work for the better part of the week. Not a huge deal, but quicker posting of the schedule would convenient for the staff.

I worked at Best Buy Canada full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The biggest pro was the employee discount you got on electronics and appliances. Especially if it was an open box or on sale item. They also had prizes for most product sold which was nice.

    Cons

I used to work for the future shop side of things where it was commission based. You used to be able to make good money but big box stores are dying. Amazon is taking over making it hard to make good money.

    Advice to Management

Not much you can do other then continueing to push your own online sales as well in order to combat amazon. Train employees on how to do more online sales

I worked at Best Buy Canada part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great team environment, no pressure on selling, excellent management team serving as mentors - easy to move up in company - great company if you are interested in tech retail and sales

    Cons

    - pay is less compared to other retail positions (e.g. Apple)

    Pros

A vibrant and exciting industry, with a lot of great people and growth opportunity. Engaging job, and great potential for training and development.

    Cons

Pressure is applied top down, and results are important. There are some unprofessional practices but this can be found at every level of employment.

    Advice to Management

Follow through on offers of position or promotion. People don't like to be promised things they will never get.

I worked at Best Buy Canada full-time

    Pros

Good Full-time benefits (Health, Dental, Product Discounts) Competitive Wages Great communication with management team across district Great internal training program and 3rd party training program in collaboration with fellow vendors and partners.

    Cons

Work/Life balance can be poor depending on health of the store, often found working after set hours Low opportunity ceiling after this position within company Occasional inconsistency in regards to the mandate of Customer Experience being superseded by goal of hitting sales targets. Technical tools within stores are often outdated and can cause poor customer experiences

    Advice to Management

Would like to see more excitement from management and leadership towards building the future of the brand, as well as more action into developing more industry revolutionizing ways to approach the business.

I worked at Best Buy Canada full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working in Best Buy's Geek Squad was a great experience. We had access to a great set of diagnostic tools to deal with most problems associated with faulty hardware and software. Thanks to great corporate culture daily work routines didn't feel as tedious as is sometimes the case in retail work. The discount program available to all employees was also excellent.

    Cons

Most of the problems I encountered while working there are the types of problems typically associated with retail in general and not BB in particular (short-tempered, sometimes incredibly rude customers, fast-paced environment with high customer turnover etc.).
