I have been working at Best Buy full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-workers can be fun, employee discount, promote internally

    Cons

Favoritism, politics, sales pressure without being commission based, accountability based on some things out of control. Promotions given can be taken away just as easily. Upper management undermines company policies and makes you look incompetent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get to know your employee's strengths and weaknesses and recognize the good and coach the bad. Cut the politics out. Don't undermine employees. Higher pay for what employees have to deal with.

    I worked at Best Buy

    Pros

Fun environment and product to work with. The company is good at building a culture, training, and motivating. I always enjoyed the people I worked with.

    Cons

The work schedule sucks and unless you request a weekend off forget about spending time with people in your life. I understand it's retail but I now work with a retailer who give you a rotation so that you at least get a full weekend each month and an extra Sunday.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start a rotation with the schedule and try to give your employees consecutive days off each week. Retail jobs are tuff and this is a small thing that will improve the quality of your employees lives.

I have been working at Best Buy

    Pros

The pay is great .. And when you get bonuses even better.

    Cons

Lack of ethics of higher ups in company .. Work life balance is terrible. Be prepared to work 60 plus hours a week.

And if you ever speak up they are quick to remind you how easily replaced you are

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your brick and mortar concept is slot dying .. "Amazon's show room " isn't something to be proud off.

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You don't have to deal with customers

    Cons

No respect from anybody. Especially managers. You get treated like the bottom of the barrel. This is a great company but the position is complete bullpoop. We pick up everybody's slack and still get treated like poop.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to treat all associates equally.

I have been working at Best Buy

    Pros

    Flexible schedule

    Great discount

Lots of down time (for Geek Squad, mostly)

Easy (also a con, honestly.) geek squad tools have automated nearly everything.

    Cons

Some coworkers take work too seriously
Management recently got down-sized, so there is very little room for growth.

Any full time position is extremely competitive and doesn't pay well enough to make it worth it.

Job is very tedious. Have fun removing Trovi and explaining to old people how to connect to the Internet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training is so disconnected from work experience, it would be better if we could spend more time training and shadowing experienced members.

Hire smarter sales and customer facing associates.

Teach sales skills to customer facing Geek Squad agents.

    Pros

    Co-workers
    Discounts
    Customers
    Learning about new tech

    Cons

Having numbers shoved down your throat every day.

Pay is capped out at $12 here.
Management can be out of sync with employees
    Managers just care about bonuses

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Accept that not everyone will meet your numbers. Come up with a different way of measuring productivity.

    Cons

pressure to sale Geek Squad and credit cards is talked about constantly throughout the day

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
