Former Employee – worked at Best Buy full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Pay is fantastic; Best Buy pays GM's over $100k a year with bonus. Great opportunities for people who are looking for promotions. Best Buy needs young energetic leaders that want to make an impact in the store's employee, customer and financial buckets
Cons – Work life balance is very poor. I almost lost my marriage because of Best Buy. Partially my fault, I am a workaholic and enjoy work and what it offers but when you need time to veg out or just relax, even on days off, it is almost impossible to escape work and your boss.
Advice to Senior Management – Create an environment that promotes growth through having a good experience for managers. I miss and love Best Buy but the company has to do something better about creating a better work/life balance for GM's. Maybe taking away the laptop and corporate cell phone would be better suited.

Pros – Best Buy give s you the ability to be your own leader and create how great you can be. If your looking for a challenge to be a great leader then this is the place for you. It will challenge you everyday and take you out of the box to solve problems and help customers meet their needs. Best Buy has a great 401k and benefits plan along with a great employee discount.
Cons – Poor family life for upper management. There is very little work life balance when you work for Best Buy especially during the holiday's, but hey it is retail and they don't choose you, you choose retail. Ton of focus on the employee experience, but little on the manager or supervisor experience.
Advice to Senior Management – I think Best Buy should think more about giving managers more of a rotating schedule with weekends off and not have to work 50+ hrs. per week.

Current Employee – been working at Best Buy part-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Great team environment. Everyone is motivating and challenging you to sell the most that you can. Good trainings available on all of the electronics in the department, varies by store though.
Cons – Sometimes sales are pushed too much. If you do not sell enough of something, or numbers are low..its very frowned upon and pushed even if you cannot do anything about it due to low foot traffic in the store.
Advice to Senior Management – Relax on watching the numbers so much. Employees do not care about them...and we will try to sell reguardless.
