Former Employee – worked at Best Buy full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – The employees at BBY are all committed to doing great work, are incredibly smart, talented, and truly fun to be around. I've made so many friends there. Historically, there has been an entrepreneurial spirit that made work exciting - you never knew where the next great idea was going to come from and everyone was working hard to come up with it.
Cons – Currently, BBY is in a turnaround and the new leadership evidently believes hard work and fun cannot co-exist. Too many talented employees leaving and threats of cuts are always present creating a less than inspiring work place.
Advice to Senior Management – Hard work and fun can coexist in the workplace; managing with threats of cuts does not create an environment where employees want to do their best; investing in only short term opportunities is going to create long term problems.

Former Employee – worked at Best Buy full-time for more than a year
Pros – It's a fun environment and you get to see a lot of different people. if you feel satisfied from problem-solving, it's an awesome job. If you work in Minnesota there is a lot of opportunity for development. The corporate office is a great place to work from what I've seen.
Cons – Retail hours. Unrealistic growth expectations from a stagnant position. Also sometimes clients are just downright mean.

Current Employee – been working at Best Buy full-time for more than a year
Pros – This is one of the only very few jobs that is willing to work with your school schedule. They have great benefits for full timers and also now implementing better benefits for their part timers as well. Of course the discount is a plus and also the bonuses that the whole store is apart of now. Great job overall.
Cons – You lose many of your holidays. It is hard to go on vacation during holiday season. Have to work long hours during the holiday season as well.
Advice to Senior Management – It would not hurt to be more caring towards your employees.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Pros – Pay is great
Bonus is obtainable
People are cool
Training of employees
opportunity to advance
Cons – Stress
Managers promoted because of friendship
Some managers are not open to new ways of doing things
Egos of Managers
Advice to Senior Management – Be aware that friendship and the good ole boy network exists in your stores. Managers should embrace new ideas and by willing to take the criticism they hand out. Stop supporting mediocrity, and really look at the potential of each employee. Happy employees make productive workers. People should not be constantly under threat of losing their job.
