    Pros

I have an amazing team that worked with me every step of the way! The manager hired really great people. During the holidays I received a large pay check! Best Buy's employee discount is great.

    Cons

The demographic I work in is very difficult to work with. Customers are deciding between buying food or a cell phone. It is hard to make the sale with them. They are usually "just looking" or only come during sales.

    Advice to Management

Please understand how hard it is to sell to people who do not have money. Turning a "just looking" customer into a big sale is hard.

    Pros

The greatest perk of working at best buy is that you will be recognized if you do your job well.
Many people work hard but receive little recognition for it in other companies.
Best buy will assess you DAILY on how well you are doing.

    Cons

BE WARNED: don't work here if you know for a fact that you don't work hard.
Management told me that "the way you get hours here is to be productive".

There is a lot of pressure on you to perform well.

    Advice to Management

Be sure to assign team leaders that can do more than "leadership".
Nothing is worse than a team leader who is trying to "show me how to sell" when they can't do it themselves.

    Pros

    Easy access to upper management
They are on the floor with you
    Good pay
If you work in sales it's very easy to take days off
Lots of employee training, they always make sure you know a good amount of info for the products

    Cons

    Lack of discipline
They give to many chances to employees whom harm the cohesiveness of the department
Multiple employees steal sales and the management always looks over it

    Advice to Management

    Listen to employees
If more than one complains about stolen sales by the same person, you should heed there advice

    Pros

Great place to work, great atmosphere, non commission sales, great employee discount. Management is good about helping you move on in the company if desired. And hey, you get to play with cool stuff all day!

    Cons

Very very few cons come to mind. The only thing that really jumps out is the number of short shifts I get and irregular schedule. If that was fixed, I wouldn't be able to imagine a better way to get into sales. I'm going straight from buy to an account executive right out of college. My new employer cared more about my experience than my degree.

    Advice to Management

I really have any advice for management. I have to reach a 20 word minimum here, otherwise I would have nothing to say.

    Pros

    -Discounts
    -Hours and Chance of overtime
    -Above average on retail pay
-Chance to advance within the company
-Chance to earn up to %30 of your monthly earnings

    Cons

    -Some managers clearly have favorites
-Monthly bonuses are based on department, not personally. So even if you sell $100k a month, and your department falls short because no one else sold a single thing, you still don't bonus.
-Only managers have keys to open locked cages, which sucks because despite the fact that you've been with the company for over X amount of time, they still "don't trust you" to grab an item.

    Advice to Management

    -Let leads use keys
-Read through the e-voices and actually implement some of the complaints that are stated
-If no manager available for a department, ask the person in the department with the most experience to help out with the schedule.

    Cons

The computers we use are very slow. The resource software does not function well.

    Advice to Management

Take more time to acknowledge the good work that employees do. If management talks to you it's always about what you are falling behind in.
