Cons – low salary, no real room for advancement

Current Employee – been working at Best Western full-time for more than a year
Pros – The atmosphere is one of opportunity. I have made new connections from all over the country to utilize professionally & personally. There are many chances for growth in the hospitality industry.
Cons – A downside would be the limited potential of a particular property.
Advice to Senior Management – Allow your managers to do what they do best!
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Best Western full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Consistent hours, good environment, comfortable atmosphere, paid vacation that builds quickly (and allows carrying into following years), consistent annual pay increase, and good benefits (which may have been specific to the franchisee, not the larger company).
Cons – Overall efficiency of the company seems to be lacking, but not by much. When I left, wages were frozen, so I felt slightly jilted the last year I was there.
Advice to Senior Management – Without being informed of the specifics, I am in no position to criticize, but wages should be left to the franchisee to control. I was very pleased to be an employee of an organization that employs excellent property managers (based on the couple I met), and ensures certain standards are met at its properties.
If other life events hadn't pulled me away, I would have gladly spent many more years at this location.

Former Employee – worked at Best Western part-time for more than a year
Pros – Large network (so you can apply anywhere in the world), Discounts are awesome if you want to travel, you can stay anywhere in the world for under $70, Company really values their employees and guests.
Cons – The low prices sometimes bring in people that expect the same amenities as a 5 star hotel and they take it out on you. (Management is very helpful)
Advice to Senior Management – Give employees access to give discounts and other items to the A+ guests.

Current Employee – been working at Best Western part-time for less than a year
Pros – Friendly coworkers, everyone helps each other out, left to do your job
Cons – Heard there are no pay raises, was told that every 4 months they give you $25 cash instead. Not enough workers to do the job.
Advice to Senior Management – Offer pay raises to people who come in on days off and never call off. Even if its only .10 it makes you feel appreciated.

Current Employee – been working at Best Western
Pros – - Friendly enviroment
- Most people get along
- Its not difficult work; easy to learn
- Most of the time you are sitting and reading waiting for a guest
Cons – - Guests can be onoxious, rude, or even threatening
- Schedules can change last minute
- Not a lot of mobility as each Best Western is individually owned. Unless your owners have a few hotels under their belt you dont have a lot of move up potential.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop expecting so much paperwork to be done. Let people do their job and trust that people are doing the job you have asked of them. The paperwork is really tedious.

Pros – A great place to start your hospitality career.
Cons – Limited mobility into middle management. Overall structural bureaucracy hard to navigate.

Current Employee – been working at Best Western
Pros – It is a good hotel and you can win points by signing guests up for their Rewards Program, and you can use those points for free stays at other Best Westerns, or you can purchase girt cards with them.
Cons – There isn't a whole lot of room for advancement.
Advice to Senior Management – It would be nice if long term dedicated employees were given raises once in a while.
