I'm just glad I quit prior to killing myself! My best paying, worst employer to date.

    Pros

Flexibility - As long as you're willing to make up the time or take it as PTO, you can come and go as you please.
Benefits - Very good in this regard.

    Cons

Middle management lies and cares more about hiring friends/family than those best suited for the position. They'll say you didn't get the position due to your behavior, but the behavior they're referring to is the complaints they receive from particular employees that have to work with limited resources to complete their daily tasks in a timely fashion.

Cost-of-living raises come on average once every six years and will only be approx. 3%.

Also, they don't replace employees that leave but instead pile the work on others with no compensation. If you're lucky you may receive a BioBravo award for your efforts LOL. However, that's only if your manager puts you in for it. So you could probably imagine who would be chosen for these.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To middle managers, what kind of behavior is acceptable? You think going around stating that an Ex-CEO prior to the Synarc/BioClinica merge was sleeping with his receptionist is acceptable (as you deny it but know it's true), but then decline promotion to an employee based off their behavior when it's complaints about work resources to complete daily tasks. Like... Seriously.

    Pros

Pros to this place would only be the 20 paid-time off (PTO) days. It's better than your standard 2 weeks vacation and 5-8 sick days like most places since you could ideally use all 20 days for a long vacation or sick leave. Depending on who you report to, you would be able to use PTO on short notice if need be.

    Cons

    1. The atmosphere of the company culture runs top down, so they makes sure you understand who is senior management and who is allowed to think for themselves. Otherwise, do not try to think independently. Do as you are told.
    2. Most people are miserable there, just doing enough to stay under the radar and avoid unfavorable attention.
    3. There is no "one team umbrella" company wide, but rather the individual departments akin to silos. So meetings are typically held under the guise of action planning/problem solving, but in reality, they are turf wars with plenty finger pointing.
    4. There are many inefficient processes that need obvious improvement, but they believe to group-think, hold the line of "we've always done it this way" dearly and are unwilling to improve or adapt.

So if you want to be just a cog in the big machine, then this is the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take off the rose-colored glasses and get a pulse of what is really going on within the company. If they would allow employees to complete a survey with complete anonymity, perhaps the company could actually listen to employee suggestions and improve! Senior management needs to simply value the input of people beyond their titles.
