I have been working at Biomet full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The company culture is great. You honestly feel like most coworkers have a vested interest in the company and work together to achieve successful outcomes.

    Cons

Biomet was recently purchased by a competitor and is amidst a great deal of change. Uncertainty about the future has resulted in a somewhat stressful environment at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Carry the Biomet culture into the new combined company. Continue to be as transparent as possible to team members.

I have been working at Biomet

    Pros

Excellent leadership and amazing company culture. Biomet has shaped me so much as a professional and I owe them a lot. I loved the people I worked with, as everyone is friendly and welcoming. It is super nice to work with down to earth people rather than egotistic title pusher jerks. In Biomet you will for sure grow and be respected for what you do.

    Cons

Just got acquired to Zimmer, its a pity this company will have to merge with a company with such a radical different culture.
    Salaries aren't super great.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't sell the company!!

I worked at Biomet part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Working is the medical field is interesting! The field assistant or intern position is great for someone who can work flexible hours for low pay. The benefits are great, especially free health insurance- yes you heard me right! The office staff was great to work with and learn from.

    Cons

Sometimes the office gets very busy and you are asked to come in very early or stay late. The pay is less than what you might expect given the nature of the work and the expensive equipment you are handling. Flexible hours can sometimes turn into required hours when the office gets too busy. They have no budget for maintenance to the company delivery van, which is used daily, and carries expensive medical equipment. Although your boss is the sales manager, he is rarely in the office or available.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Albuquerque branch manager previously worked as a sport's coach in high school with a degree in education. This company is willing to hire from anywhere for their sales staff, but this also means the branch had very poor management due to a lack of experience and training. Most of the office staff was reasonable, but when disagreements occurred there was no manager to step in and resolve them.
As an intern, there was no defined course to pursue further employment with the company or a full time position. To a big degree, getting hired in medical device sales is who you know or who you can meet and impress.

I worked at Biomet full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I worked in 5 different positions during my tenure and enjoyed elements of each one. 3 weeks paid vacation per year foe years 1-10. I only left the company due to an out-of-state move.

    Cons

Things have changed greatly since 2003 when I started. Insurance has gone downhill significantly. the industry itself is very economically dependent, when the economy took a dive the company suffered greatly

The culture at Microfixation rivals any company I've ever worked for. They truly value you as a human being

    Cons

Corporate is the biggest con, unlike the smaller SBU's they don't value their employee's and consider them all replaceable

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
