Former Employee - Network Control Technician III in San Diego, CA

I worked at Blackbaud full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, NOC manager was flexible and approachable, the rest of the technicians were friendly, some of the NOC engineers shared their experience and knowledge. Compensation is industry standard. Work schedules were reasonable considering it's a 24/7 operation.

    Cons

Favoritism among certain employees. It's not fair for other technicians to carry the work load for others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat all NOC employees fairly. Set expectations to get promoted out of the NOC.

Former Employee - Interaction Designer II in Charleston, SC

I worked at Blackbaud full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Growth if you work hard, up to 15% quarterly bonus if the company hits it's numbers, peers/people are great there

    Cons

slave driving utilization requirements, employees are numbers to anyone beyond level one management, out-dated software and high costs make for unhappy customers, cube farm

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn about the trade your team delivers, get rid of utilization as a motivator and focus on customer feedback of individuals, stop coasting (everyone with a fair share of stock just doesn't try anymore).

I have been working at Blackbaud full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Employees are well treated overall, good work environment. New ideas encouraged. Strong internship program for college kids. Company genuinely cares about its employees. And having a company like Blackbaud in Charleston, SC is a bonus, wonderful gem of a little city!

    Cons

Internal products are embarrassingly stuck in the past, limiting growth opportunities for developers.
Company growth through acquisition, acquired companies not always well managed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Push for modern product development, does Blackbaud really want to be making VB6 products forever?

I have been working at Blackbaud full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good potential to move around within the company
    Friendly atmosphere
    on-site gym and cafeteria
yearly pay raises (less than 20 cents/hr in support)

    Cons

It can be really difficult to get pay raises which are very minimal at best.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow people who are good at their jobs to move around a bit more and learn new things.

I have been working at Blackbaud full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great team, reasonable hours, great benefits, 20 paid days off from the first year, nice people, supportive environment. Work stays at work. Vacations are approved and we cover for each other.

    Cons

Working only on the front end, we are trying to make old, buggy software perform like stylish modern software. The company has no interest in modernizing the software, so it stays this way as the years pass by. There are a lot of clients and you need good time management skills to stay on top. Pay is a little below market.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix your code. Modernize your code.

    Pros

Great people to work with and the company really seems to care about their employees.

    Cons

Pay isn't great and the training is not very good. You are thrown in and expected to figure it out as you go along.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would consider revising the training and focusing more on product knowledge than on troubleshooting.
