I worked at Bloomberg L.P. full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Office culture was great - lots of fun people and a dynamic environment. The building is set up to encourage random interactions, which keeps things vibrant and exciting. Most people love to work for Bloomberg, and they show it. Bloomberg encourages internal growth, but my department was changing locations, and I wasn't lucky enough to be get a job within BLP. Great benefits, great pantry, great summer picnic.

    Cons

There was some secrecy when changes were occurring in my department, which put a damper on the morale, but this could be at any job. My department moved out of state and I didn't want to move, so my options were limited. I wish I could've stayed. I loved it there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more transparent when there are changes. Don't bite off more than you can chew. Try to retain your experienced/educated employees.

I have been working at Bloomberg L.P. full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Full control over the projects life cycle, from design to implementation to deployment. Ownership is key! Work is project based not timed based. Your voice is herd - you can set group direction, come up with new projects and follow through. Company now offers flexible hours and work from home. Great benefits in terms of vacation, free food, 401k matching and very competitive compensation packages. Projects move very quickly even though it's a big company.

    Cons

Project based means some times you must work harder, but the flipside is also true.

I worked at Bloomberg L.P. as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

The people that work at Bloomberg are friendly and truly interested in helping interns and new members feel like a part of the team. There is an amazing entrepreneurial spirit even at the task driven level of the business which is one reason I chose to complete and internship here. Free Snacks too!

    Cons

There is a lot of different businesses under one roof and many con conflict each other. It is tough sometimes to achieve goals if they are blocked but other departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep clients of the software platform close and to do this be careful that subsidiary businesses do not eat into their business.
