    Pros

The company takes this internship program very seriously. The often had intern networking events, and they held supervisors responsible for giving interns a quality experience.

    Cons

Once in your department, you have to make the extra effort to understand the org structure within other areas of BCBSA.

    Pros

Great work life balance, structured and predictable, ample holidays, you can take your vacation and time off

    Cons

Very slow advancement, easy to become stagnent, salary is lower than the industry average, low drive for performance due to cultual legacy

    Advice to Management

The culture of this organization is based on old principles when the healthcare industry was not expected to be a performanced based segment. Now that reforms have been passed, it is time for organizations like this to start structuring their organizations like every other business and start requiring performance from their employees.

    Pros

Great place to work as an intern as the internship program is structured where one gets an in-depth experience in working at Blue Cross Blue Shield.

    Cons

A lot of management has been there for over 15-20 years, so they are very much planted in their positions which leaves little upward mobility for people looking to work up the career lader.

    Advice to Management

Great internship program, in the future, try to have all the interns work on a project where they can all interact with one another instead of just a small group.

Working with mid to late career professionals provide extensive knowledge in healthcare related issues. Plenty of opportunity to attend informative briefs on healthcare issues. Plenty of resources to get caught up with the Affordable Care Act and the issues related to the law.
