    Smaller company, more opportunities.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Seattle, WA

    ProsSmaller company, more opportunities.
New industry, new market and new business model.
It is expanding international business, nice work experience.
    Good company culture.

ConsPeople from different departments are only focus on their own short-term goal. Employees don't clearly know the common long-term goal or company's competitive strategies.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore team activities. Let employees know company's short-term and long-term goals. Work at the same page. More cross-department communication. More feedback about work performance.

Blue Nile is a great place to work for people who like supporting great products and working in an exciting environment.

ProsThe business model is really smart, people are great, the fast pace makes it exciting and I enjoy my job.

ConsThings happen really fast which makes it difficult to keep up and then other things take much too long.

Advice to Senior ManagementAllow employees more autonomy appropriate to their roles so we can keep the pace quick and get things done.

Great business model and successful company, but has some growing up to do before it can be called a great place to work

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Seattle, WA

ProsRelatively small size provides great learning opportunities and access to senior management; great business model and place in the industry that's relatively insulated should provide good (but not great) financial performance over the next few years; solid benefits such as 100% employer-provided health insurance and generous stock options

ConsInflexible and somewhat arrogant senior management has led to high levels of employee attrition; more political than a company that size should be; compensation not as high as competitors which hurts when stock options are underwater

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide better system for recognizing and retaining star performers; be more open-minded when employees express different viewpoints from your own

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsEmployee Discount, quality-driven, some opportunity for advancement, employee get-togethers, good benefits

ConsLack of communication and planning between corporate and the manufacturing facility

Advice to Senior ManagementHave corporate-required tours of manufacturing plant so they can see what the process is, increase communication between two buildings.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
