I have been working at Bob Evans part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Camaraderie, opportunity for steady income/tables. BE is so massive name marketing and name recognition alone will draw customers. So, there is a steady influx. For the most part most BEs stay busy. Managers try to do the best they can for employees, but also remain within the tight restrictions placed on them by their corporate bosses.

    Cons

For the most part, corporate decisions seem to sacrifice the customer and/or the employee to favor quick, easy profits. For example (1): A computer now (for the most part) decides your schedule, and hours are disseminated at the whim of a machine. Therefore there is no consistency in scheduling your workweek. You won’t get the same days off week after week, unless you specifically reserve them off, potentially upsetting your boss. So the computer is able to mange labor costs, but at the expense of the employees. For example (2): BE no longer employs bussers; servers are expected to buss their own tables. So, BE is able to lower labor cost, but at the expense of the customer, who now has to look at tables filled with dirty plates, and the employees, who now have to work much harder. Just a couple examples; there are many others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop worrying about your share price; start worrying about your diminishing customer base.

    Pros

    Great staff in many locations
Good mangers and coaches in many locations
Pay is good if you are a hard worker
    Communication of what's expected

    Cons

    Hours are long
    No weekends off rotated
AGM expected to close 5 nights with little sight of GM at any store I've worked at
Coaches and managers are being hounded because of corporate mistakes point the finger at yourself for once!
Bonus is a joke corporate does their best to make it impossible to make any money off bonuses

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The bakery was a mistake and so was the costly remodels.
Pay staff better you will get more quality people.
Focus on the roots of this company!! Bob was much more than a good man
He had values and cared about the people that worked for him!
Good leaders are hard to find...
Treat the people that work for you like you want your guests treated!

I have been working at Bob Evans part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Inconstancy can make you money. Short hours work with vacations and request for time off. If you have little experience as a server you can get hired and make some decent money. Bob Evans is a great summer or part time job. You cannot raise a family on the money you make as an hourly employee.

    Cons

They have very few full time positions because they have to provide benefits. Many co workers are in experienced and you have to pick up their slack.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should be more thorough with who they hire. Make sure people have experience or train them properly.

    Pros

The regulars that you become family and so do some of you employees. That I really like.

    Cons

time off policies and inflexibility for family functions. Bob Evans says it is a family oriented company but is open on Thanksgiving and doesn't have the flexibility for time off for family. especially managers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everyone get on the same page. Too many chiefs not enough Indians. Change Time off policies for managers.

    Pros

    Great place to start
Flexible schedule when you're a regular employee
    Great opportunities for growth
    Decent Benefits

    Cons

As a manager, you were expected to do too much for the low salary you recieved. I worked 60+ a week to only get paid for about 45. Upper management kept raising prices which pissed off guests, who stop coming in, and in return , upper management yells at you for not meeting sales goals

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to appreciate your employees and managers..they're the reason why ya'll make money

I have been working at Bob Evans

    Pros

weekly pay, great food, everyday cash in pocket if your a server

    Cons

computer scheduling makes it difficult to get days off , no tip out for credit tips at the end of the night, no paid vacations or holidays, open on holidays.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

show your lower level employees more appreciation like when Bob Evans was still alive. Been employed here since 2009 and I still have newer co-workers coming in making more money starting off than I do after 5 years of hard work and dedication to this company.
