    Great Concept but work disappointing

    Sales Associate (Current Employee)

    ProsGreat discount
    Some managers are friendly

ConsHorrible wages that are not competitive, required to meet sales goals with little to no recognition or sales bonus for the hard work. Lack of full time positions and leadership may be weak at some locations as far as fairness and teamwork. Very old and outdated tactics and this company needs a boost in products offered to customers to create a better shopping environment to be able to compete with bigger companies like h&m and forever 21 but the potential is there just switch the clothes out sometimes they repeat every year.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would go around to each store and listen to the sales associates who are on the floor everyday who sells the product and get advice based on trends, customers likes and dislikes because the sales associates see this everyday and would help with an edge for Body Central which has sooo much potential. I would also try to get some fresh ideas for clothing and accessories as well as fresh and young people selecting them.

    Dissatisfied

Assistant Manager (Current Employee) Dallas, TX

ProsMy discount is nice, (some of) my coworkers are fun to work with, work-life balance is so-so. Full-time benefits are really good.

ConsI've been with the company for less than six months and I'm ready to find somewhere new. Everyday is a challenge here, from the unrealistic task load to providing customer service to women who don't desire my help from entry to fitting room to checkout. A lot of hiring and firing, threats of getting written up has become my life here.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet it together corporate! Find out your target market because "her" is a broad range of high school girls to elderly women. Once the target is found then a brand image can be projected and merchandise for that target market can be purchased and sold and profit can be made. There's too much emphasis on creating a visual appeal for a budget conscious consumer they need better promotions / ways to save and better product to purchase. The competition is killing us!

    Job not career

Customer Service (Former Employee) Jacksonville, FL

ProsMost people were awesome to work with. Managers laud back.

ConsNoise level is horrible. Pay is sad. Not much room for advancement. No standards set in place.

Advice to Senior ManagementHold everyone accountable to do the same amount of work. Monitor noise level and computer browsing. Reward good work.

I was extremely overworked and had to deal with a store manager who didn't know what they were doing.

Assistant Manager (Former Employee) Greenville, NC

ProsAwesome employee discount, I got to meet a lot of interesting people, I had a lot of hands-on experience with visual merchandising which was fun, for me.

ConsThe company doesn't believe in promoting someone who is in college because they think a student wouldn't be able to put enough effort into their store; promotions are based on work availability over experience, education, or seniority; high employee turnover; policies changed frequently which confused employees and angered customers; horrible pay with no raise in 3 years of employment

Advice to Senior ManagementHard workers should be rewarded rather than taken advantage of. District managers should pay more attention to the problems in the store by asking associates and assistant managers questions rather than ignoring them and only listening to the store manager.

    Not Pleasant

Sales Associate (Former Employee) Moorestown, NJ

    Pros40% Discount was awesome
    Cute clothes
    Customers were pretty cool

    ConsAssistant Manager stole sales
Store Manager did nothing about stolen sales, but told Assistant Manager about the accusations
District Manager hated me because I'm short (Store Manager told me)
    4 hour shifts
    7.50/hr in NEW JERSEY
    Capturing emails

Advice to Senior ManagementThere needs to be some level of professionalism. If an employee asks for confidentiality, respect it. The quota policy needs to be eradicated; it causes unnecessary tension between employees. When there is a problem, Store Manager needs to address it. Instead of whispering and being afraid of lower managers and associates, speak up! Assistant Manager needs to stop trying on clothes and do some work! Assistant Manager needs to learn her colors before she merchandises. Coral is NOT beige.

ConsDirty Store, Too Many Thieves, Rude Customers, Extremely Bad Location (Kidnappers & Rapists), Really Big Store That At Times Only 1 Sales Associate Had To Sweep & Mop All By Herself.
