I worked at Bombardier as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

    Plenty of overtime during holidays

    Cons

If you were to loose your A&P, it would be at this facility. I personally witnessed several near fatal accidents. One on take off and one at night during landing. Stories of prior disasters, deaths were kept quiet. Idiotic, useless safety rules. Poor use of technical publications. Rampant Nepotism. Noticeable levels of theft among employees. Below average intelligence of new hires. Lack of attention to detail. Poor interpretation of FAA guidelines and regulations. Inept hiring practices. Inexperienced inspectors. Non logical approach to standard inspection processes. Non compliance to Bombardier policy. Poor salary offerings to direct employees. This center will inevitably tarnish the Bombardier Corporate image.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No more than two employee may be related to each other. A minimum of three years experience on fixed wing should be required. French Canadien blue prints are NOT American standard blue prints. Treat your direct employees and contractors who produce, as though they matter... Remember, its them, not you -who bring the dollars.

    Dysfunctional Private Aviation Employer

    I worked at Bombardier

    Pros

The salary that Bombardier offers is very competitive in the Private Aviation sector. There are also 9 paid holidays. PTO, or paid time off is also available. If you are of certain ethnicities, you will be recruited aggressively. If you are not of those ethnicities, it will take months of persistence, follow-up, and calling to even be considered for a position.

    Cons

The management at this location is incompetent, spineless, and without a personal morality compass. If anything goes wrong, managers hide in their offices. If employees are disruptive, or create conflict, you can expect that your manager will turn a blind eye to the situation. You are on your own. It is a Hostile work environment with no teamwork.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a stand. Believe in Something, and work to make it happen. Say Hello to people you work with. Look people in the eye. Have a spine and discipline the employees who create trouble instead of continuing to lose qualified, good employees.

    Pros

International, good people (although most of the good ones are trying to get out) and exposure to big projects... That's about all.

    Cons

People are not assets but commodities. Bullying is rife and Snr exec are far removed from reality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employee engagement is not doing a survey once a year. Wake up and smell the coffee.

    Pros

Schedules are flexible, you can have a good balance between workload and life after work.

    Cons

There's a lot of favoritism for new opening positions, we don't trust anymore in our leaders, there's no motivation, no salary increments since two years.

I have been working at Bombardier full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Close to home. If you complain to HR you get what you need. No supervision on evenings or weekend. I usually bring a tablet to play games.

    Cons

No future, gossipping, many people are fired, no vision.

    You cannot trust anyone.

No follow up on employee engagement surveys. Survey score shockingly low but is ignored.

Nice promises when you get hired yet no follow up.

Management is incompetent, and absent most of the time (sick, holidays, working from home) and will only fire good people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Replace management immediately.

    Close facility.

Former Employee - Specialist in Stockholm, Stockholm (Sweden)

I worked at Bombardier full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You are never bored, as your day never goes the way you expected it; you'll learn a lot on the go

    Cons

Quality sucks, HR sucks, IT sucks, organisational changes is the only thing the company consistantly puts efforts into (and even that sucks, nonetheless), best employees leave, not feeling appreciated or even noticed; mediocre remain; career advancement is based on favouritism and they'll rather take a less experienced external than promote their own great employees; turnover is more important than profitability… and you can only guess what this results in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Retire!

I have been working at Bombardier full-time (more than 8 years)

    (Translated from English)

    Pros

Internationale Geschäftsstellen bieten Arbeitsmöglichkeiten im Ausland mit kulturell sehr unterschiedlichen Mitarbeitern an.

International offices offer opportunities abroad, with a very culturally diverse workforce.
Most of the perks/benefits come after reaching Executive / Director level positions - company cars, bonuses, etc.
As long as you are good at playing politics, career development and general rules do not apply; management and HR will find a creative way to please you.
There is a new COO, since last year, which has great visions and supports change.

    Cons

    Very little loyalty to staff - high performers and staff whom have worked for over a decade can be fired out of the blue per internal political;
If you are not good at playing politics, regardless of your outstanding performance through the years, no guarantees of compensation, let alone fair compensation. HR always work together with Management, and is there to make you feel as though things are fair. They will deny or confuse you with realities, until they realize you have special knowledge of all the cases where rules were bent. If you ask further, they will criticize you for being ungrateful and for complaining.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Large number of unfit management at n-3, n-4 levels.
Each layer of management should take the time to introduce themselves and have direct dialogues with those 2-3 levels below.
