    Talented, smart people

Senior Associate SA1 (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsInteresting clients and projects. Smart project team members. Challenging in a good way. Is a great way to set up long term career in terms of compensation and interesting job opportunities.

ConsWork / life balance is very challenging. As much as seniors want to put programs in place to better this, it remains challenging. The projects are demanding and require more than standard industry hours.

    Overall good but....

Transaction Processing (Current Employee) Parsippany, NJ

ProsLaid back. Everyone works well together. Upper management seems to be stressed all the time. Non-client facing staff seems to be happier.

ConsI am a little impatient but I feel as if my talents are not being put to good use. I have an accounting degree and they have me processing basic work. I have spoken but it seems like my enthusiasm is worth nothing.

Advice to Senior ManagementAsk employees what they want to do. Ask them how they would like to advance.

Great, Creative Experience with Terrific People

Internal Professional (Current Employee) New York, NY

    ProsVery good collaborators.
Opportunity for creative thinking, and diversity of views is rewarded.
People have a distinctive view of how to create value in companies.
There are some powerful events and gatherings that generate very distinctive knowledge.

ConsThe viability of the firm's future is uncertain.
There is never enough money to invest in the infrastructure the firm needs.
We are just learning how to bring difficult issues to the surface.

    Overall good company

Associate (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsThe flexibility is good (as good as it can be for a management consulting firm). There are a few formal programs in place (i.e. sabbatical, reduced work schedules).

Also, working with highly intellectual people challenges you all the time, keeps you on your toes and motivated.

ConsCan be reactive versus proactive to market needs.

Olympic training ground - incredible projects, colleagues ...horrible culture

Principal (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsExceptionally bright colleagues. Real world problems with the ear of senior business people to fix them. Really bright, capable partners

ConsWidely recognized for a horrible culture. Cut Throat environment. *very weak* leadership

Advice to Senior ManagementIf it feels like the boat is sinking, look in the mirror!

    Great company

Senior Associate (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsGreat place to work. I have not really met any single person that I've not enjoyed working with. Company seems to reward people well with promotions. Get to work on some interesting problems. I've had good work-life balance

ConsSome lack of direction. General obsessiveness of beating McKinsey, or using them as a benchmark, as opposed to just focusing on what we do best and going with it

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on Booz

High potential firm that is actively addressing its shortcomings

Associate I (Current Employee) New York, NY

    Pros- Intelligent colleagues
    - Project work is mostly strategic and aligned to c-suite priorities
    - Exposure to several different projects and clients
    - Opportunity to b ecome "famous" for something, if you like
    - Strong focus on improving company culture and people value proposition

Cons- Work-life balance is possible...as long as you manage it and accept the work part will be high
    - Limited in terms of infrastructure, general support and technology (not an area of high investment since spin-off) as compared to larger firms (though this is being addressed)
    - Limited training and development (again, this is being addressed)
    - Heavy emphasis on powerpoint production...sometimes feeling like "overkill" both on client engagements and for internal initiatives

Advice to Senior Management- Maintain commitment to culture and people processes, making Booz a great place to work every day
    - Communicate a crisp, clear strategy and identify of the firm to staff and the market
