I have been working at Boston Private Bank & Trust Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    A paycheck every two weeks.

    Cons

Boston senior management is awful. Very poor managers. Arrogance and egos abound. No concern for low level and middle management employees.

    Advice to Management

Nothing will change unless BOD cleans house, and that does not appear to be on the horizon. Stop nickel and diming employees.

I have been working at Boston Private Bank & Trust Company full-time

    Pros

There are no good reasons to work here. Management sucks. There is a lot of politics. Training is terrible. You have to train yourself.

    Cons

Training is very bad. You pretty much have to train yourself. No-one is willing to help. The bank is very old fashioned and archaic.

    Advice to Management

listen to the employees and don't play office politics.

  3. Small Bank with Small mentality

    • Senior Management

    Pros

you can get personalize service and very responsive staff when you know them

    Cons

High turn over of key employees makes it difficult to maintain relationship specially if you are a big commercial clients. Screwed-up and antiquated philosophy excessively cautious placing limitation of just one loan per customer even if you bring them a very desirable new deal. Do not go to this Bank if you are hoping to build a relationship.

    Advice to Management

Stay the same if you want to remain small and insignificant.

I worked at Boston Private Bank & Trust Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Manager didn't speak much English so you could say whatever you wanted and she had no idea. There really wasn't anything good.

    Cons

Manager didn't speak much English. Manager didn't manage her area. Work load completely unequal among employees. Human resources sides with management no matter what. Training was horrendous. We had to train ourselves. Cheap, cheap, cheap!

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and see what really goes on at your company.

    Pros

The people are great, friendly, and kind. Everyone is pleasant to work with. Work / life balance is very loose, no one is forced to work "overtime".

    Cons

Certain departments are full of under achievers and under performers, who are standing in the way of very capable people. The Bank has not once culled the dead weight. If you are an all-star performer, don't expect to get an all-star salary / bonus here.

    Advice to Management

If you want to maintain a team of excellent professionals you must pay them a market salary / bonus. No one likes picking up the slack of underperforming co-workers.

  7. Great to their clients. Employees, not so much.

    Pros

Work Life Balance appeared to be a priority as everyone for the most part was out of the office by 5 PM on most days

    Cons

Politics. Small place, neither Private or Trusting. Cannot voice concerns as it gets circulated around the company.

    Advice to Management

Gear your efforts towards getting up to speed with how things are in the banking industry. Otherwise when larger banks decide to go after your share of the market, you will have no defense to keep your current clients, let alone attract new ones.
