I have been working at Boston Scientific full-time

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits. At least they were.

    Cons

Little room for advancement. No career development. Very very political. And raises have been stingy for many years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you can't promote, say why you can't promote and say what needs to be done to get promoted. Don't give us that 'you need more global leadership' crap to someone who only works locally. What does that even mean?

I have been working at Boston Scientific

    Pros

Boston scientific has decent compensation packages. The work envirnoment is excellent. There are lots of activities, both at team and company level, for team building.

    Cons

Every year since the last 5 years there have been layoffs in the company. This is not only keeps employee morale low, but also decreases growth opportunities

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in growing markets and in people

    Pros

Positive trend financially with stable management finally. Excellent benefits and salaries. Good career paths in many departments. Growing diversity and inclusion. Excellent head of human resources.

    Cons

Not good work life balance in information systems department. Constantly trying to do more with less. Important to understand the culture of the department.

I worked at Boston Scientific full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Opportunity for personal growth is the employee drives it, is willing to switch jobs every 2 years, continue education, and relocate. Great for young people right out of college and young families. Excellent benefits. They treat interns really well but limit interns to "select" schools.

    Cons

No loyalty to long-term employees. Believe in turnover of 10 % is good and only 10% are exceeding expectations (get full bonus). Believe in meeting the numbers no matter what it takes. Being with the company for 20 years, being over 50 (unless executive management), or staying in the same position for more than 5 years is the kiss of death here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of bureaucracy and excessive director and vice president positions. Every extra level of management requires an entire staff and adds non-value added reporting and time-consuming redundancy.

I have been working at Boston Scientific full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Team members in Capital Equipment in Fremont are great. Very enjoyable working environment. There is a lot of work, but the needed resources are easily accessible. Management does a great job at facilitating and allowing you to do a good job.

    Cons

It's a good thing I enjoy the environment. When I asked my manager what I needed to do to get a promotion to principal level, he told me to forget it; that doesn't happen here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A financially sound investment is to invest in the resources you already have.

I have been working at Boston Scientific full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good benefits, decent bonus. Some interesting work.

    Cons

corporate has hr programs in place and try to treat employees well but enviornment varies greatly among sites based on senior management. Management does not promote teamwork and sharing ideas. It is all about what gets them further and makes them look good. There is no one really seeking to do the best thing from a business stanpoint. Lots of waste.

I have been working at Boston Scientific full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great flexibility to work life balance (sometimes,) beautiful campuses, talented colleagues

    Cons

Overworked and no recognition, huge behavior in favoritism and promotions, not much support in HR and not encouraged enough by management to use resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If its not broken, don't try and fix it. Listen to your employees, especially if they know your job more than you.

I worked at Boston Scientific as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Working on products that help improve the life of people.
    Campus like work environment.
Location is an easy commute from Ventura County,SF Valley and Pasadena

    Cons

Everyone on the interview team seamed compartmentized. Limited communication between hourly and salary employees. Didn't see ANYONE smiling INSIDE the building. ONLY person I noted that was cheerful was the Security Guard at the main entrance!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Seems like there is a type of FEAR of mangement. An US vs THEM culture. Need to open up channels of communication between the two groups and improve the work flow. It seemed that there was a disconnect between what the interview team was looking for and what the leadership team off site was asking for.
