    Pros

You have the opportunity to change and save lives. Work with driven individuals guided by a focused mission.

    Cons

A balance of work and home begins to blend. You get to a point where you can't differentiate the two.

I have been working at Boys & Girls Clubs

I have been working at Boys & Girls Clubs part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are passionate about what they do and it shows. Few work at B&G Club for the paycheck. You feel a sense of accomplishment when you help the children. There are excellent trainings and an online "university" to learn more about child development.

    Cons

Pay is comparatively low, but that's typical at non-profits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work.

I have been working at Boys & Girls Clubs full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Best people you'll ever work with. Committed and passionate about the mission.

    Cons

Work/Life Balance has changed for the worst under current leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Benefits are down, salaries are stagnant, and everyone is being asked to do more. You leave employees with nothing left to be happy about except for the mission. That path is unsustainable.

I have been working at Boys & Girls Clubs full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great place to build your skills with working with youth. Awesome experience In mentoring youth from all walks of life whether it's inner city, rural areas, to low income poverty areas.

    Cons

Limited room for growth. I sort of feel it is not what you know it is who you know in this movement to move up in the ranks,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more confidence in those staff you consider to be assets to your organization. When you have dedicated staff they should be treated just as that dedicated and loyal to the passion they have for the organizations.

I worked at Boys & Girls Clubs full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The employees are all extremely passionate about their jobs and go out of their way to be there for the children. The board of directors is very involved (in a good way). The executive director is wonderful - thoughtful and caring but also a strong leader who is very well known in the community. Your opinion is always valued and you're given the freedom to get creative with your work.

    Cons

It is a smaller nonprofit so they don't have the largest budget to always get the newest technology.

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook
