I worked at Boys & Girls Clubs part-time

    Pros

A small organization, with only two sites, BGCH is a tremendous organization to work for. The current management staff really cares about the staff as much as pursuing the organization's mission. It can be tough to secure a job here because the staff who do typically stay for a while.

    Cons

Because of the organization's size, it can take a while to move up. While utilizing PTO is encouraged, it can be hard if more than one person wants the same time. Pay can stagnate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Consider a clear raise policy.

I worked at Boys & Girls Clubs part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Kids are great to talk to and connect with. We would often go on field trips which the kids would not have an opportunity to attend otherwise and they loved it!

    Cons

Slightly disorganized, no training and a lot of on the job learning. No organized programs so counselors often had to think on their feet.

I worked at Boys & Girls Clubs as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Working with such amazing kids and helping them to make positive decisions for their future made me absolutely love my internship here!! I really felt that I was helping with the youth and community surround it. The relationships that are made with the co-workers and children is so rewarding!

    Cons

I would say that this job is definitely for someone who is really wanting to help out for the cause of what the company offers, if you are looking to make a lot of money - this isn't the right place for you.
