    After Growing Pains, this company is finally "getting it"

    ProsDecent Pay, good benefits, opportunities for professional development and growth, community partnerships. This company does a great deal of community service projects as well as outreach to the San Diego community. Outside of the admissions department, there is a great sense of job satisfaction, and safety. OUside of Admissions you will find a very professional atmosphere, and an emphasis on developing talents and leadership. Very supportive of the military community.

    Consa lot of turnover, constant change. The Admissions floors are a place that can be very tough. Management puts a lot of pressure on employees and lower management to perform. I have seen people with Masters degrees completely not satissfied, nor appreciated for their value. I can say that the culture is changing though. The company is moving away from overly-aggressive sales tactics. Now they're just aggressive. The company doesn't do an adequate job of addressing parking problems.

    Advice to Senior ManagementKeep striving to develop a culture in the Admissions dept. that can support every employee. Everyone should feel proud to have this company on their resume, or facebook page. Continue to be involved in the community, and making the reputation of the brand a strong one. Make exceptions for students if you have to, especially if it means they won't feel ripped off.

    Great Company With Passion For Education

    ProsCutting edge technology, great employees and talented engineers. Management is not just another layer added for process but helpful and qualified.

    ConsNeed a better plan for consistancy across state lines. Educational depth is lacking in that there are not technical competencies. Benefits are good but not stellar.

    Advice to Senior ManagementOn the software the side tech leads and managers are highly qualified and willing to work with team members of all walks to get things done without sacrificing quality.

    Took some time getting used to the product and types of students....

    ProsIf you are fresh out of college, it is a great place to work. Or.. if you are older and seeking some extra income for the family.. it is a great place to work. Since they did away with the matrix, the atmosphere has completely changed. It is a LOT of fun.. not kidding.. a ton of fun. We work hard but we play games, listen to loud musich, throw balls all around, and are caring on the phone with students and each other. Truly never worked in such a fun place where they want to make it fun for you.

    ConsIf you have only B to B experience and are used to making money and having incentives for closing more deals.. it will be VERY frustrating. But if you really need a job, want to learn a new industry... and do not mind the pay.. it is a good place to work till you get a real job. The frustrating part is seeing kids on my team.. making 103K per year and are locked in at that rate. Crazy.. and so not worth it. Good for them though.

    Advice to Senior ManagementI think they are doing a fine job. I really think you need to stop feeding floor and OAP unassigned to your vets as most of them sit on their rears and wait for hand outs. Give those to the performers of the month, make them work for their money as I see a lot of them getting lazy. So what if they performed for 1-3 yrs, now they are not and are just taking hand outs. I know this is true as I sit with them all day. Nuts and unfair.

    Great growth opportunities but severe lack of communication between departments and lack of formalized processes

    ProsLots of wonderful, smart people. The company has the resources of a large corporation, but is still growing. There many opportunities for those willing to step up. Pay is above average for San Diego. It's easy to make a name for yourself. It can be just a job, 9-5, or you can build a career here.

    ConsPoor communication between departments. Some technical groups are completely incompetent. If you know who to make friends with, it's easy to do your job, but there are difficult people in key positions

    Advice to Senior ManagementEstablish better communication and clear, precise goals. Better review of internal procedures to figure out what's needed and what's not.

    ProsBridgepoint is a young and growing company in which some people will achieve early advancement in their career. The organization as a whole offers a very appealing professional and collaborative culture. Many employees express pride in being part of a young organization with an entrepreneurial spirit that is also an emerging industry leader. Bridgepoint is an excellent place to start a career.

    ConsThe Enrollment Department in particular is an incredibly competitive, often unnecessarily stressful environment. The culture in this department is performance driven with an unspoken "up or out" mentality. The company is also very growth oriented and favors it's sales force heavily over other departments. Employees in other departments often complain of having unrealistic workloads and a lack of resources. Many positions are underpaid for the educational and workload requirements expected.

    Advice to Senior ManagementI think the executive leadership at Bridgepoint has proven that they know how to grow a young company. The future seems bright for this emerging industry leader. I would like to see the corporate officers place as much emphasis on the quality of what we do as an educational instituition as they have on what we do as a business.

    Fun place to work but not to begin a career

    ProsPeople are really friendly and supportive of each other. Management in the finance department also recognize work/life balance. There is also overtime available. There's also a huge emphasis on team support and teamwork. There are also company bonding events that management is insistent on keeping despite the increasing size of the company which is definitely great for company morale.

    ConsSalary and benefits are slightly below average. Your first year there, you only receive one week of vacation and one week of sick days. It's a bit disorganized because of its rapid growth. It is a for profit university so it operates solely on the basis of numbers. I don't like that education is being sold in this way for a profit. The quality of the education and students are definitely forsaken for recruiting as many students as possible regardless of how unsuitable prospective students were to enter college. A large percentage of students should have been advised to take remedial classes before enrolling. Students who did not own computers or were mentally impaired were also recruited for online programs. Student recruitment did not seem to always be performed ethically.

    Advice to Senior ManagementBecause policies keep changing, it's difficult to give advice to students and members in other departments. The school needs to have a uniform set of policies and procedures available to all employees so that there is a document of authority to turn to. Often times, information is passed by word of mouth or by forwarding outdated emails which leads to confusion and misunderstanding between personnel and student.

    Competitive salaries, relevant experience, opportunity for growth

    Student Relations Specialist (Current Employee)

    ProsCompetitive Entry-level salaries, great health benefits, fun culture, experience in a fairly new but rapidly growing industry, opportunity for growth. BA preferred but there are plenty of opportunities for those without a degree as well.

    ConsIt's a 9 to 5 cubicle job, as with any large corporation there are drawbacks. The admissions department can be a difficult and stressful job, but after 6 months you are eligible to transfer to other departments if you desire.

    A chance to grow.

    ProsAs a swiftly growing company , there are plenty of opportunities to experiment and be involved. For people who do not favor the traditional office environment, this company will be a refuge. while not quite as free as say a Google.. it does pride itself on being happy, casual and down to earth.

    ConsThe company was not prepared for it's swift growth. systems are in place that worked well enough for a few years ago, but are barely holding up under the pressures of the current volume.
