Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in San Diego, CA

    Pros

Was able to work on new technologies and add immediate value due to short implementation cycles. Work/Life balance was very good and the company had a good training budget. I was able to obtain multiple certifications and my MBA while employed at the company.

    Cons

Politics are horrible. Orgs do not talk to each other and have their own agenda. Initiatives get squashed after months of work due to some director changing their mind about the project.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Middle management needs to stop trying to control first level management. Set direction but don't tell them how to get it done. Provide a positive outcome and trust subordinates will figure it out how to accomplish it on their own.

    Pros

Many learning opportunities, supportive management. This is a great way to learn everything about your industry and grow as a professional. If you are a go get-er you can create amazing opportunities for yourself here.

    Cons

Upper management is not great at communicating. Many projects and initiatives contradict. This is getting better.
If you are not a self starter, you will not get far here. Company values leadership and ability to follow through.

    Pros

Great learning opportunity for me. The growth was incredible and sustained for a long period of time. I thoroughly enjoyed all the opportunities that were presented to me.

    Cons

It's now a big corporation with some significant risk because of the accreditation status of Ashford University. The Admissions Counselor job is a rough one that is effectively a sales job with no incentive pay and a lot of turnover. The IT department has been behind for years. They just can't seem to stay up to pace with the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Plan and communicate - that's where the opportunity is.
