I have been working at Briggs & Stratton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Briggs & Stratton is large enough to provide a lot of opportunity for growth, but small enough you don't get lost in the shuffle. Our focus on acquisitions, commercial equipment, and international expansion is creating many doors that can be opened for those who are smart and ambitious. The work/life balance is also great.

    Cons

We move slower than I would like. The facilities are maintained well, but they are getting old. It would be nice to start remodeling some of the older areas.

    Advice to Management

The direction we're going is positive; we just need to move faster. Keep investing in innovation, and keep looking at broadening our product portfolio.

I have been working at Briggs & Stratton part-time

    Pros

Very simple work and coworkers are decent. Managers are helpful enough. They offer some basic classes if you want to further your career with them.

    Cons

It is a factory job so its very loud and the work is extremely repetitive. Sometimes very painful after working several days in a row, especially in the hands and wrist.

    Advice to Management

Management has been very good to me so far. I have had no problems with them. I would advise them to improve on their communication.

I have been working at Briggs & Stratton as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

As an intern at Briggs, you are put right in the mix with and excellent opportunity to advance your personal skill set.

    Cons

The co-op program alternates semesters between work and school resulting in sometimes starting halfway through or leaving when a project is only half way done.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the excellent work.

    Pros

Briggs and Stratton is a good company to work for. I had so many people who believed in me and my work ethics that was willing to have faith in my abilities to perform the job that was required from me.

    Cons

Can not say anything bad about Briggs and Stratton. I was giving a job and worked hard for the company and felt that they believed in me

I worked at Briggs & Stratton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hours, pay, co-workers. The atmosphere of friendship between all employees is great. From the engineers to management to the operators on the floor, everyone is a pretty close group.

    Cons

Big organization and like most organizations, it can be clunky at times. Sometimes things do not get accomplished as quickly as a person might like due to the huge levels of organization to go through. Also, 5S is majorly stupid and non productive.

    Advice to Management

Not much to share. They get the job done.

    Pros

Clear expectations, good opportunities, easy to feel a sense of belonging.

    Cons

The expected reliance on availability of discretionary income. In a consistently slow economy that can be a problem.

    Advice to Management

Continue the direction of leadership and innovation.

I have been working at Briggs & Stratton as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Meaningful work, networking, exposure to all sides of technical projects. They will give you real projects to design, contact vendors for parts, attend meetings, present proposals, and many other things. They'll teach you how to be an engineer. The hours are very flexible around your school schedule. Awesome experience

    Cons

Lower pay than other internships, but its still decent. I've heard the engineer salary here is low

    Advice to Management

    Nothing at this point
