It's a job... and one I like, but the culture here needs revamping.

    Clinical Protocol Manager (Current Employee)
    Wallingford, CT

ProsSome people are really great to work with, good bonus, flex-time, work from home options, small office environment, work rotations

ConsSome people are not so great to work with, not-so-great benefits, management that is not amendable to change, low salaries compared with other companies, high workload

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove benefits, raise salaries to be more in line with other companies, balance workload better, get rid of line managers that haven't done anything in years, but stay because of longevity

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    worth then average

Senior Research Bio Statistician (Former Employee)
    Hopewell, NJ

Prosno pros except, maybe relocation package (2006)?

Consno professional growth opportunities, no stock awards, avarage salary and management seems to create projects as if there were some kickbacks from CROs and Consultants awarded those projects.

    A Long Strange Trip

    Director, Global Marketing (Former Employee)
    Princeton, NJ

ProsThe work was always challenging and interesting. Compensation was decent with fair benefits, even if never in the top tier.

ConsOver the years, opportunities for advancement became few and far between. The company was more infatuated with outside talent than recognizing the great talent within. External hires brought in to be superstars rarely panned out. In addition, the company is has a fundamental commitment to become MUCH smaller.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop thinking all the great talent has to be found outside.

2000-2010 BMS was very much family oriented and respected their employees - that all changed in '11 and is now cutthroat

    Medical Science Liaison (Former Employee)
    Denver, CO

ProsVery talented people work at BMS and the skill sets are grown. Product development is superb!

ConsThey view you as of 2011 as a disposable commodity that can easily be replaced

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees with more respect

    Good company

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsBMS is a good company with a lot of exciting opportunities on the horizon. There are great people at BMS who genuinely care about patients, their customers and each other. As a large company the vacation, compensation, bonuses etc. are equal to or better than most comparable companies.

ConsThe pharma industry as a whole is going through some major changes. BMS is as well, so while there are a lot of opportunities ahead there are challenges. How successful the culture and leadership are at adapting to these challenges while still maintaining what makes BMS a good company is still an open question.

    Change is the new norm

    Medical Information Manager (Current Employee)

ProsThe people are great. The culture is wonderful. You find yourself in a nice atmosphere walking through the halls.

ConsTries to recognize its people with paper awards and recognition but that is not good enough when promotions are not happening.

Advice to Senior ManagementYour people need to be promoted when they've achieved and contributed above and beyond. Turn around means there is job dissatisfaction and it should be a signal that there needs to be a change in this area and not just organizational.
