I worked at British American Tobacco full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It is a truly multinational and multicultural company
It is a very successfu company
It gives very good salary and benefits

    Cons

In a few occasions, it felt like the company was taking decisions on employees roles and career moves without really consulting the employees, just working on the assumption that if you are well paid, you should accept everything

I worked at British American Tobacco full-time

    Pros

Big brands, big company, big opportunities potentially.

    Cons

All about brands and $Bucks and shareholders. $crew the people if their faces do not fit!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior managers need a tighter reign on some junior managers who lie and cheat and get away with it, some get caught and are allowed to leave without action....and l hear then go to represent them in legal proceedings which is morally wrong when they lie in court as did HR. Shame on you BAT!

I have been working at British American Tobacco full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I have worked here over 7 years, in Globe House. The compensation started very strong but has been whittled away every year. LTIP pay out is close to 0 and annual performance targets are so high that they reduced to below target. Even thought he Management is getting record payouts.

    Cons

There is an atmosphere of fear and greed in this company. Senior and junior staff are concerned about being fired, most people are holding on but are treading water so not to put their heads above the parapet. THe culture has become toxic in the last 3 years - even with share price continuing to increase.
I think the penny has dropped for the Management Board that the industry is in collapse and they haven't developed the skills to fix it.
There is a lack of innovation or truly inspiring brand marketing. The culture is finance driven and loyalty to people is near 0.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Retire now . Give way to a generation that can drive the organization towards the current century

I worked at British American Tobacco full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Job experience that can prepare you for the cruel life reality.

    Cons

Only one quality has been considered for a right one, political correctness, keep your mouth shut and if asked always say what is expected to hear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of doing everything to keep your chair consider to really change something or implement solutions to ensure company growth in a shrinking market.

I worked at British American Tobacco as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    Sales training, company vehicle

    Cons

Stain in your CV (smoking is a choice of the client, but selling tobacco is earning on people's dependence) Very competitive atmosphere, it seems to be created on purposey to separate the employees and manipulate them. Very non-friendly. With the same money I can work at another company. But BAT like would make me a favor if I work there and receive money money from them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Check the office managers of the Chisinau.

I worked at British American Tobacco full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Large Company, pretending to be implementing large global projects.

    Cons

Quite low level of skills in IT and its management, most plucked from shop-floor just to avoid redundancies. Intolerant of knowledgeable IT professionals. Few departments full of gangs of fake IT consultants with fake experience, working as freelancers and milking money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As long as you can bribe the government and sell overpriced poison, you know you have to just pretend that your IT systems matter. In reality you will just do fine without an IT system.

I worked at British American Tobacco as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Compensation is ok for the type of work I was doing and the workload was very low. Management is very laid back and doesn't control much of your work unless there is trouble.

    Cons

The department I was working in was a chaos. No structure, outdated policies, the management doesn't know the answer to any of your question and just suggests you to do whatever you think is right. And we are talking about procurement, the department where every single case should be treated with special diligence and attention as there is a high risk of corruption and all other types of breach as you're exposed to making decisions related to bids, contract awards and money, in general. Other than that, I've been 'lucky' to have a manager who knew nothing about the procurement and what he was dealing with, who didn't set correct goals and responsibilities from the beginning and then took a 'blame' position which wasn't based on facts, but rather on the rumors and other people's opinions. Head of HR department wasn't any better. Highly unprofessional and inadequate. I was very lucky to get out of there.

    Great company to work for

    Current Employee - Project Manager

I have been working at British American Tobacco full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great atmosphere, career opportunities offered to ambitious people, reasonable to great compensation, great people around wherever you go in terms of location or department

    Cons

Politics seem to be more important than anything, stakeholder management takes lots of time and slows decisions, the good part of it is the democratic aspect everybody knows and agrees, the downside is that sometimes is exageratted and overrated in disfavour of results

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Speed up decisional process by trusting and empoweringnpeople in a genuine way

  10.

    Pros

Good Friends and colleagues which i can never forget

    Cons

bad management and lack of respect for individual values and culture
also political manipulation in terms of job placements

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change is a key word when it comes to BAT, most of the management of certain departments should be changed before you lose all your raw and young talents
