    Pros

Great People, Great for Work Life Balance

    Cons

New CEO & Management team is recruiting from outside so if your hoping to get promoted into a better role - think again. Company is focused on tactics and no - NFV isn't the future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Build your focus on the people, stop hiring in executives, get a strategy. Don't let the CEO (flying first class) speak at an all hands about frugality on the purchasing of Lobsters for board meetings while the rest of the employee's suffer

    Pros

Was once a great company. Good collaboration and teamwork, smart people, a CEO who was strongly community oriented and understood that employees are the lifeblood of a company, high quality / rock solid Fiber Channel products, and fairly innovative IP products.

    Cons

Since the arrival of the new exec team over the past year, a culture of cronyism and fear has permeated the company. There's a complete lack of respect and transparency: outside of the new inner executive circle, everyone is treated like disposable widgets. Some will point to the nearly-doubled stock price as a counter-indicator, but it's easy to increase profitability by slashing expenses and squeezing everyone; increasing revenue requires hard work...

Many of the best have already left the company; there will almost surely be an exodus of staff in the summer after the next stock vesting and semi-annual bonus payout.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the excellent work of running a once-great company into the ground.

    Pros

Corporate management has a good handle on the business finances and does an excellent job of communicating business results to the employee.

    Cons

Corporate management is impacting the business operations by reducing resources critical to operate the business at efficient levels. Additionally, there exists high level management which is less than truthful in employee communications.

    Pros

Good technology. Good place for anyone who like fast innovation technology.

    Cons

There were multiple management layers in Support. Most senior managers were clueless of what was going on on the floor, and micro-managing tech support engineers.

Former Employee - Sales Operations Manager in San Jose, CA

    Pros

It was good to work with Engineering team, legal, finance. The brocade campus n buildings are nice n well maintained.

    Cons

Lack of good managers, culture is very discriminatory, management encourages hostile environment, asked to treat the manager as spouse and agree to his wrong moves. Misrepresented the job profile.Lack of ethics! Too many unmarried/divorced cronies out there who just complaints about their lives and jobs n discusses other employees personal matters.overall not a good place to work!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instill Equal good organizational values n ethical culture. Reward the talents.

Inept management forces you to work twice as hard for half the results.

Current Employee - Software Engineer in San Jose, CA

    Pros

Decent salary and benefits if you don't factor in the forced overtime.
Nice new campus but engineering cubes are tiny (6x6 feet) with half-height walls and no privacy.
    Close to shopping & restaurants.

    Cons

Inept, nepotistic managers. They hire their relatives, friends, people they went to school with and give them the best jobs, lion share of promotions/salary increases and bonuses. Hard work gets you nowhere.

Mgmt is very secretive. You will be the last to know when anything changes. Mgrs spin a story about inclusiveness but it's all lies.

Corporate part of the company is bloated and overcompensated. There are literally directors/sr. directors with just one person reporting into them.

Legacy of Greg Reyes stock option scandal still haunts the company.

Company is in decline. Many good engineers are leaving.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop thinking about yourselves and get to work on fixing the product road map, recognizing key contributors (i.e. not managers), and implementing some real engineering processes instead of this fly by the seat of your pants mode.

    Unappreciative management, no personal life

Current Employee - Software Engineer in San Jose, CA

    Pros

People who have empty lives, who need something to distract them from their current life's problems will find such an artificial high pressure work environment suited to their temprament.

    Cons

They hire very accomplished and senior people and make them perform repetitive tasks. I have been expected to get off work at 6 pm and starting working in the evening. I get work assigned to me at 7pm on a Friday and due on Monday. This has been happening weekend after weekend . During the week I get just a few hours of sleep everyday. I will not want this life even if I were getting a million dollars annually.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A company's success is based on its strategic directions and operational excellence. Forcing artificial deadlines and not solving a problem at its root cause, approach hardly succeeds. Things have to be well designed for the product to ship in time, and not by setting aggressive deadlines and coming back and continuously redesigning the feature

    Pros

    new campus, that's about it.

    Cons

decreased PTO policy, then re-instituted company shutdown to basically take back all the PTO; good move for the P&L and Balance Sheet, no so great for employees
THIRD YEAR in row there wont be any raises
used to have high bonuses, but not anymore; they are also cutting down on the percentage. Pay is now below average
management is arrogant, incompetent, and has a sense of entitlement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

pick a vision and stick to it, don't go out saying it's all good when it's not.
