    Pros

The pay is competitive and the benefits are decent, but what makes the company good to work for is its employees. The company is good at hiring many of the most talented people in the industry. Everyone is very capable. It's a pleasure to be surrounded by great peers. There are also plenty of learning opportunities.

    Cons

Time off for new hires can be a problem due to the bi-annual mandatory shutdowns (Xmas and week of July 4th). The shutdowns are needed to give everyone a break. Staffing is continually paper thin and meeting schedules can be very challenging (Brocade is a schedule-driven company). Other than on-the-job training, taking advantage of the learning opportunities can also be a challenge, as there isn't a lot of free time for it. Promotion opportunities appear to be empty promises unless you are in a very visible position.

    Advice to Management

Management is already well aware of the issues and has formulated a plan to address the current concerns. More time off flexibility during the May to August months would be helpful.

    Pros

Great work life balance, resources, super talented people. Company at an inflection point.....could be great....or not.

    Cons

Not very remote-friendly, company at an inflection point......could be great...or not. Lots of change in management

    Advice to Management

Stay the course. Make space for Strategy and expect results based on that. Trust your employees

    Pros

    Awesome Company to work for

    Cons

No complaints from me. If I had to "con" something, it would be the Corporate location. Traffic is terrible.

    Pros

Most teams are very cohesive and work together well.. Great people, good long term plans and direction.

    Cons

Cant get a feel for the CEO and HR VP... HR has gone from a great team to a shadow of what it was..

    Advice to Management

Be fair look at survey results and what people are saying, losing good people is not a good sign

    Pros

Autonomy, ability to drive your own success, great OEM relationships across vendors. Access to many levels of management. Good recognition of effort from management. Great access to product teams and peers. Small enough that you feel you make a difference. Great technology, passionate people.

    Cons

Small so lacks influence in deals that encompass multiple technology streams. Not a household name outside of the storage industry.

    Advice to Management

Need to influence at a global level to drive sales in the region. Brocade's brand is not well known as it is hidden behind OEM agreements.

    Pros

Not too small, not too big. Culture is fairly open, most people are pretty approachable. The environment is fairly laid back.

    Cons

Don't have much innovation or grodnd-breaking products. Leadership is caught in sustaining a run-rate business...

    Advice to Management

Create an innovation lab, let people spend 10-15% of their time on new ideas, innovation. People can be very resourceful if they have opportunities to think out of the box.

    Pros

Great collaboration between Pre-sales teams and Product Management. Progressive thinking, with the move toward SDN and acquisitions to help get us there quicker. Great leadership team, now that we've brought in an ex engineer as our CEO vs a sales guy, things are moving in the right direction.

    Cons

Spotty code quality can cause a lot of work for the pre-sales teams, though it's getting better. Name recognition, or lack there of, when trying to sell into the business world.

    Advice to Management

Keep the movement toward SDN/NFV active. Figure out how to prepare your sales SE's for selling and demoing Python based SDN apps. We're network engineers, not code developers.
